What knife do you use for "stupid" jobs

I started a thread a while back titled "What knife do you keep to seriously abuse" and a lot of folks chimed in with what they used for a beater.

I really meant "seriously" abuse though. I just read this...

They aren't safe for "stupid" jobs. Instead of Frost Cutlery knives, I keep some old kitchen knives in the shop for dirty and 'stupid' jobs. At least I know the kitchen knives won't fold up on my fingers or fall apart. And they have better steel too.

I guess that's what I meant. What knife do you keep for "stupid" jobs. Or maybe, what is your toolbox knife. Mine is an old Mora I got at a Pow Wow with a broken handle and put a file handle on. I made a duct tape and cardboard sheath. I cut wire by hitting the spine with a hammer, scrape, pry. Haven't even broken the tip yet, it's holding up surprisingly well. Moras are awesome.

Anyways, what is your "stupid" knife?

Why would you use any knife for anything pre-defined as "stupid"?

When I'm working around the house, in the yard, painting, etc., I leave the nice Spyderco's and Benchmade's in the drawer and carry an old Gerber EZ-Out that I've had for a long time. I don't mind sticking that thing in dirt and grime. (BTW, it still cleans up surprisingly well and stays pretty sharp despite what all I do with it.)

I really don't use a knife for stupid jobs. I use wire sidecutters, nippers, shears, razor-blade scrapers, hacksaw, etc.

I beat the hell out of this Appalachian trail knife my friend have me when I was younger. I have to say it hold immensely well

I Guess My "Beater" Would Be My Spyderco Persistence.
I Don't Try To Pry Anything With It And I Don't Hammer The Spine Though... To Me That's Ignorant Usage. That's Not How Knives Are Supposed To Be Used. It's A User To Say The Least, But I Would Never Abuse It. It's A Good Knife To Use For Absolutely Anything And Everything.. But If I Want It To Stay Being A Good Knife To Use For Anything And Everything, I Don't Abuse It.

If You Want To Keep Using Them, Make Them Beaters Or Whatever, But Don't Abuse It, Because Then It Won't Be There, And By The Time You're Finally Finished Replacing All Of Your "Beater" Knives, You Could Have Bought A Hinderer XM-24 Flipper With Custom Scales, Standoffs, And Everything.

You Silly Boys. Lol.

A long time ago I used a CRKT M16-12 serrated to twist/pry out a codder pin and learned several things the hard way when it closed on my finger. I know better now

It appears that smart use of tools is not cool any more. That abuse and abuse and "stupid" usage is the thing these days. So the strong unbreakable knives and some heavy beaters are in great demand. I am still wandering where this came from...
So as you can guess, I do not consider myself a knife abuser. But for some dirty work, for the jobs which, for example, would require blade re-sharpening straight after or even before they are finished, I have got a choice of three knives: cheap old Mora fixed "carpenters knife", Buck Vantage and CRKT Hammond Cruiser. I limit Mora to wood work - mostly because it is better at it and also because it takes longer to properly re-sharpen its scandy grind. Buck and CRKT I use for everything else - depending on which blade shape suits better the particular job or which knife is at hand at particular moment. Currently I have got Spyderco Stretch for EDC. With this knife I try to be a bit smarter. There is no practical difference in the value - I have got it very cheap. Just other three are better suited for a rough job, and I do not care about them that much.

I don't use a knife for stupid jobs around the house because I have tools. :)

same here.

Kobalt utility knife, mostly for things involving tape, because its a pain cleaning off all the tape glue off my blades.

Around the house I use an Mtech Rough Use Bowie, which is an amazing knife. I've cut down trees, batoned firewood, cut tarps, stabbed/cut aluminum siding, and left it out in the rain and mud for weeks. So far, no nicks in the blade and no signs of it dulling. For $10 I've never seen a better knife!

In the urban jungle, I use my 551 Griptilian to cut everything. I never pry with it, but I will cut anything.

I only use my knives for cutting things but if a knife is going to be relgated to the crap jobs for a knife, I usually use my BK11 which rides in my BOB at all times.

Yard work is a cheap but sharp machete [ dont remember the brand ].

And the truck carries a few blades that I would use to enter a crashed vehicle.

One being a Glock knife.

The other is a hatchet type that is called the Truckman and its like a axe and a large can opener, for doors etc.

Let's see...I think I'd get fired if I deliberately used a knife with a hammer for cutting wire. I never cut wire with a knife, only insulation. I carry at least 5 hand tools that have integrated wire cutters built into, way faster and cleaner cut. Pretty sure I can break all my knives without trying very hard but why...
Anyways, my the most used knife is this one.
