Looking at the steel ranking thread, I got to wondering if there's a blade out there which offers a variety of steel choices to compare in one package. Same stock thickness, same gring, same quality of heat treat. I can't think of any outside of 2 variations(BM 154CM/M2 Spyderco AUS6/VG10, etc), with perhaps a damascus version to dress things up. Maybe the Buck 110, with a switch to 420HC from the older choice (440C???) and the BG42 and ATS34 options from the custom shop.

AG Russell currently makes his Deer Hunter and Bird and Trout hunting knives in AUS8A, VG10, and D2. If you look on ebay you might be able to find one of the last generation version of the same knives made from ATS-34. All of these blades are thin for high performance cutting and so they are all easy to sharpen, even in D2 or ATS34.

If you include Limited Editions, there are Benchmades that have been made in three steels without counting decorative damascus. The 730 in 154CM, M2, and D2, the 705 in the same, and the 940 and 941 in 154, D2, and S30V. I think the 910 has been in ATS34, 154CM, and M2, but that's just because it's a design with enough legs that it started when their base steel was ATS34 and is still around now that the benchline is 154CM. I think the Ascent falls into that category as well, and maybe the 710. Oh, the Mini Nimravus has had 154, maybe ATS34, 440C, and M2.

BM has made its baseline 4" weehawk bali in at least four or five steels over the years, but I don't think more than two or three of them were ever available in the same timeframe.

A Buck 110 can be bought with several different steels through their custom shop.

Lochsa comes in Damascus, S30V, S90V, Bg42, 154CM. The Spyderco Military came out in ATS34, CPM440V, and IIRC either S30V or VG10. The Police came in GIN I, VG 10, and ATS55 IIRC. The Microtech LCC in 154CM and S30V.

Don't forget the 733's which are the same design, just different handle materials, which are available in S30V.

The Spyderco Native has several variations in different blade-steels.

In fact, Spyderco constantly changes their steels so with a little searching you can find the Endura in AUS-6, ATS-55, VG-10, and I think it was even made in GIN-1 early on.

Good luck,
Allen.

I bet the Spyderco native has the most types of steel for one blade shape. I think there are 3 different steels available now, not counting what steel it use to have. Probably 6 or 7 different types. Maybe. :)
