I was looking through my "stuff" this evening and I found this. I bought this Henckels Model 1834 in early Nov. 1970. I remember because my son was born Oct. 28th and in the excitement, I lost the Case pocket knife that I had at the time.

I carried this one daily for 28 years. The sheepfoot blade is about half of it's original width. I might have a few older ones, but this one actually was used.

I modified the pen blade a bit to pick out splinters.

Wow, I love seeing pictures of well used knives like this one.
Thanks for the pics.
I guess the knife I've owned the longest is a little miniature Buck 110 knock-off my dad gave to me when I was about 6.

Helle sheath knife. Not used too often but I've had it since I was a little kid .It's almost 60 years old !!

my dad gave me a german SA knife he got in WW2 when i was 6 or 7 yrs old lol, still have it, ~40 yrs.

I guess mine is a small Cold Steel folder that I picked up in the late 80's or early 90's. 2 1/2" clip point San Mai blade, kraton handle scales, lockback.

One of the scales separated from the liner and had to be glued back on, but otherwise, that puppy is still very solid and tight. Great lockup, no blade play, strong spring action, and it sharpens up as well today as it did 17 years ago.

I'm actually thinking of asking STR to take a look at it and put some nice scales on it for me. Anything that lives with me that long and survives deserves some special treatment.

This one is my oldest...
It was given to me when I was a young boy by my uncle (around 1973, but the knife might be even older as it was not new when he gave it to me).
The name is no longer on the blade so I don't even know who made it:

I've had this little plastic AC/Delco/GM knife for quite a while...maybe since 1980?
I bought it at a flea market because I thought it was neat how it opened:

Another very old knife that was given to me by my father sometime around 1977.
It's an old Ka-Bar.

And this last one is the Ontario "Knife, hunting, sheathed, survival, pilot's" knife that my 1st Sgt gave me the day before we deployed to Saudi for the Gulf War (1990...it's hard to believe that it's been 17 years already).
I dyed the handle black with leather boot dye...and the dye has held up rather well I would say.
I didn't kill any Iraqis with it, but it was used to kill a snake and alot of camel spiders...not to mention more than a few MRE's.

I have a Case 2 bladed slip joint that I got from my dad about 37 years ago. I also have a Buck Stockman that is also about the same vintage. My dad gave it to me in jr. high school, he had had it in his drawer for about 8 years prior.

L.L. Bean fishing knife (KA-Bar). The knife belonged to my father's neighbor who passed on a few years ago. I rescued it from a junk box headed towards the trash.

Mine is a three bladed stockman by Uncle Henry with the "real" staglon handles. Got it for my 10th birthday. Lost it two months later on some family vacation...course at the time Uncle Henry had a "Lost" policy. Or my parents just told me that so they could replace it for me.

A western cutlery bowie model W36 with wood handle that my father gave me(it was his knife) when I was 13. I'm 29 now. I have it and will always keep it safe. It's the only knife I have that I like that is neither in my extensive BOB nor a part of my edc. It stays in my shelf, oiled, and unsheathed. It's actually a very good and well made knife.

Before that I had other knives but I don't have them anymore.

edited to add: Not what you asked, but the oldest knife that I have and carry daily, although I personally have only owned it for under a year, is a Belgian military folding knife with marlin spike made by the British in 1951 for the Korean war. Mint condition and rock solid. Carried with my keys. Not bad for something made in 1951. Marked ABL colin winand 1951.

Not what you asked but I wanted to mention it because I think it's pretty cool.

The knife I have owned the longest is the SAK Huntsman I received for Christmas when I was around 8 or so.

SAK Classic.

First knife I ever got. Was in my pocket for the last 10 years (I'm 22).

I used to have a knife just like this when I was a kid I think it was called a flick it. I thought it looked cool and it was pretty sharp.

Unfortunately most of the knives I had as a kid are long gone. Lost, left outside to rust away, traded or sold. So that makes my oldest a 12 year old Cold Steel Recon Tanto a girlfriend got me for my 18th birthday, what a great gift! And yes being 18 I just had to punch it through a 55 gallon drum.

I still have a small, bone handle Tuxedo pattern penknife that I found and repaired over 40 years ago ;)

Have an old barlow, not real sure how long I've had it but I know it has followed me around for at least 20-25 years. Its one of those knives that always seems to be in the top drawer of your dresser, hiding out among all the stuff.

A Buck 112 folder. My brother bought it from SnapOn tools, and sold it to me for $10 for gas money. This was almost 20 years ago.
