What knife is this Goose?

I was looking through your gallery and saw a Buck I'm not familiar with. What is the knife in the middle?

Hey Messy...
That is a Buck 403 Big Sky.
The two I have are not marked with a model number or year stamp. Just "BUCK" "U.S.A." (two lines).

It is a good knife. I did the EDC gig with one for a bit but I didn't like the sheath...it's a clip-on leather. While the leather is thick and seems well made, the clip sucks. Slips off the belt easy. The clip is the steel type you see often on cell phone cases.

The blade is great. I like the choil that acts like an extension of the FG. There is a thumb depression on the spine that is serrated for grip...nice touch. Also prefer the drop point.

Will check the box later to see if there is a date code on it.

Hi Jim...
I have two of the 403 knives like the top one in the pic above. That is the '86.
The blade markings on the two of them are identical.

I didnt realize they made the the 403 Big Sky in '86.
Guess I had better brush up on my Buck Knowledge

I messed up and will edit my original post about the date.
After reading your post, I decided to pull the boxes off the shelf instead of looking at them from about four feet away.
Eyes are getting old.
The "86" is "06". The date, specifically, is "11-15-06". AND, the other box I pulled out too. The date is not on the end flap (which is why I couldn't see it from afar). That box has a barcode sticker on the side that has a date of "06-02-03".
My bad.

BTW, in the post linked below, Joe mentions that these were last seen in the catalog in 2002. Having started in 1999. The one that is in the "06" box that I have was from a factory sale. As I have learned on this forum, the box date does not correlate to the actual knife mfg date.
