Sorry for the trouble viewing this video. It keeps moving. I've had luck entering it name "Fresh Guacamole" into the search box, upper right of screen in the above link if at first you don't see the target video.

Cool vid and cool knife. That's basically the shape of a knife I've had rolling around in my noggin for a month or two. Seems really useful.

What an imagination and guts to play with food in that manner despite what parent's might have said to the contrary. Dicing tomatoe using dice! A lot of belly on that big butcher knife. Much more so than on my Victorinox 8" chef knives. It does look useful.

Cool, that reminds me of Old Hickory.

I don't have any Old Hickory kitchen knives. Mostly vics. I would like one shown in the video.

Really cool video

I bet you 1/2 a beer that it will be in the Oscars this Sunday. Betcha.

After watching this short film a few times and admiring the knife, I decided I wanted one. I got in touch with ABS Mastersmith J. Neilson and asked him to make me something like it. Here are some pics of what is headed my way. I'm very happy with how it turned out. The blade is a tad over 10 inches and the handle is Cocobolo.

That's very nice! What is the steel?

Thanks. The blade is made from industrial high carbon band-saw steel (15N20 or L-6). I don't really care which one to be honest. I have a couple other knives from J. made from the same band-saw steel and I love them.

It looks very nice! One of those band saw blades must be huge.
