If you have one a BOB what knife do you pack?

I carry the Ka-Bar BK-10 and a Leatherman Sidekick.

Cheers

My bag has a spare HEST 2.0 folder, a 5" leuku, a Ka-Bar Acheron, a carpenter's hatchet and a small Arkansas stone.

However, I've never bugged out yet.

I don't have a bug out bag, but I do have a survival kit in my pack I take into the woods.

I have a Mora 2/0 and a Victorinox Tinker in there. Both are small and nothing fancy, but are capable in a backup role.

My "get home" bag contains a Condor Bushcraft Basic 5" fixed blade and a Boker Tree Brand folder. In addition I always carry a large folder in my pocket.

None. I have a folding saw in my get-home bag. It is also my bag for day hikes. Less steel=more space/weight for food. With 3 hot meals/snacks/steel Guyot full of water and everything else my Maxped Jumbo is 8lbs (winter weight).

I always have a 3 1/2" to 4" folder on me,

My emergency bag in my car has a Mora companion and an old buck folder. I also edc a multi tool and a large folder as well.

I also carry a "get home bag" everyday. As far as things with blades go I have a Ontario Rat 1, an ESEE Izula, a partially serrated Gerber LMF II and a Leatherman Wave in it. In the near future I'll be adding a folding camp saw. I had a Gerber hatchet in it for a while but the room it took up and the amount of weight it added weren't worth it.

Ka-Bar BK2
Benchmade 300 Axis flipper
Gerber multi tool
Streamlight Pro Tac HL 600 Lumens
...among other things...

If I was bugging out from home there are other knives I would bring , but in the bag that's always in my vehicle I have an Ontario TAK 1 , a SAK Huntsman (which has a saw) and an old Gerber multi-tool with very sturdy pliers on it .

If I had sufficient time to grab the ideal knife for the circumstances, I would, but my wife and I each have a "BOB" with a King Cutlery (Ontario import) BlackTac folder inside. Absolutely not a fancy knife, but one that struck me as suited to that role. My get-home bag has a little Gerber Remix, and what I consider a downsized version of an Ontario SP8 made by Rock Mountain (whoever that is) more pry bar than knife. The GHB comes into the office with me, so I wanted to stick with knives that look the part of utility tool, not pig-sticker.

Bag I keep in my car (call it what you will), plus miscellaneous other knives hanging out in my car: Esee 3, Kershaw Strobe, Leatherman Multi, Gerber LMF II.

A large Whitby fixed blade, a Hultafors Heavy Duty and a small but very sharp Fiskars X5 Camp Axe. Plus whatever slipjoint I happen to have in my pocket, usually a UKPK.

Kits are where knives go to retire since they are hardly ever used. My kit knives are the ones I don't like to EDC.

The car kit as I like to call it is designed to get me and my vehicle from point A to point B. The focus is on keeping me warm, dry, fed, hydrated, and keeping the vehicle running. Think mobile toolbox with a fully redundant wardrobe and camping equipment for 3 days of extreme cold. There is an old SAK in there and a fixed blade. One of these days I'll grow tired of fondling one of my spyderco folders and it will find a home in the kit.

There isn't a multi-tool but there are some dirty old pliers, wrenches, and screwdrivers in the toolkit. Some booster cables, empty fuel canister, battery charger, small change for parking & whatever, prepaid phone, headlamp, tire patching kit, tire changing kit, first aid, bungee cords and zip ties, windshield washer fluid, air compressor, brush and ice scraper, squeegee, spare blades for windshield wipers, bulbs for car lights, spark plugs, motor oil, mats for traction on ice, duct tape, shovel, saw, axe etc etc. Basically I've been trying to have the little things that cause big problems covered. Regular maintenance really helps with this.

There isn't really a bug out kit these days. My bugging out involved staying with friends, family, or worst come to worst at a motel until things blow over. I have a few civilized backup locations mapped out and if I can avoid it I won't be going on foot. The odds of my car and home failing me at the same time are remote. I certainly don't plan on running off to the woods to catch squirrels.

tl;dr: SAK and cheap fixed blade

I certainly don't plan on running off to the woods to catch squirrels.

After the missiles fly and/or the comet hits, all the radiation and/or mystery space dust will cause the squirrels to try to catch you. Just sayin'.

Don't really have one. If I did, it would contain:

M1 Carbine
Steyr M9-A1
Spyderco Schempp Rock
Spyderco Manix 2 CTS-XHP
Leatherman Wave
All my medications and related paraphernalia
Camelbak (3L) though that will only last me half a day at best.
Plenty of ammo
My cat Finn
Maybe my fiancé

Due to my extensive list of ailments, my plan is to stay home until the meds run out, and then just put one through the head. Maybe go to my parents house as it is more defensible than my apartment. I have enough guns for the whole family.

All the more reason to hunker down. I hear some of the special squirrels can call in air support. :D
