Thank you to everyone who has replied to my previous thread!
A small recap, I am a woman and have zero understanding in knives, but some research has suggested me to look into a couple of particular models. The choice has now narrowed to 2 options, which one shall I go for?

My wife got me a large sebenza and it shocked me. Best present I ever got. If you going to go all out get a Chris Reeve sebnza

What was even more amazing is she bought it in London , England..where locking knives are supposed to be illegal. And then brought it to the US

Out of the two knives you’re leaning toward , I’d go with 0450. I love titanium. That being said , depending on your budget , I think you should give Chris Reeve Knives a look. The Sebenza and Inkosi are fantastic. Some people have already suggested CRK and I’m sure more will. Definitely worth a look.

All I can say is that when faced with the same decision for myself, I chose the 0450. I also prefer titanium over carbon fiber. Either would make an excellent gift.

She says she doesn’t know anything about knives
Neither is your recommendation. You didn’t explain to a non knife person why your recommendation is a better choice and possibly worth the big jump in price.

If she googles Chris Reeve Sebenza she’ll find pages and pages of information answering those questions.

If only my crk brethren would try a Les George then I wouldn’t always have to be the first to recommend em! 😂

Seriously though for a first knifer I’d recommend a benchmade griptillian or spyderco pm2 for 2 reasons. Zts can be big, bulky and heavy so going from nothing to that in the pocket can feel very cumbersome. Secondly these 2 options are cheaper considering it may end up just sitting in a drawer if he ends up not carrying it regularly or at all.

No, I’ll just cut the current salary I pay you in half. 😉

Ah, you edited the post while I was replying.
Sorry, I felt like it was too obnoxious. I’m not trying to sell her a knife, just giving my best answer. I’d be super excited getting a Sebenza as a gift, figure most guys would.

A newb to knives wouldn’t have a clue about crk. And there’s a good chance he would research it and then think his ole lady was crazy for spending that much and what he could’ve bought for all that money.

I went with the 450. Both are essentially the same length and weight and use the same blade steel, but the 450 has a narrower profile and won't be as much of a pocket hog. That may be important for someone who is not used to carrying something like that.

As you have seen, you will not lack for alternative suggestions. If you are open to other suggestions let us know and we will be more than willing to oblige. Just tell us what your budget is, and what size range would work. Some of the suggestions above are for knives that, although exceptional quality, are twice the cost of the two you are looking at. Those two ZT models will give good service and are nothing to sneeze at. Although I have quite a few knives, including the Sebenza, I would be thrilled if my wife were to give me one of those ZTs, and would carry it regularly.

She asking about choosing between two specific knives. How is it helpful to offer suggestions she’s not asking about?
Guidance comes in many forms. ZT seems to be a wannabe CRK. If the BF is into quality at all, the CRK is a far nicer gift.
