what knife used by James Garner in Up Periscope

I was watching Memorial Day movies today, and was curious about the knife carried by James Garner in Up Periscope. it looked like a kabar, yet in one shot looked to have a curved guard, rather than the straight guard on a Kabar. Could it have been a custom made for the film?
