There was a finger hole knife used in the movie by two thugs on the subway.

Anybody know what knife it was?

I have no idea, but I was just watching this movie last night!

Well, attempted to anyway. The DVD messed up halfway through and my player refused to read it after that.

Nothing conclusive, but I bet it's either a Hollywood fabrication or a downmarket neck knife. More likely the former, IMO. Why? Well, it seems to resemble an Emerson La Griffe, thought the blade is a little longer. The wood handle, however, completely removes it from any reality of good design: a neck knife is designed to go around the neck, thus to be light and very corrosion resisant. Wood does neither of these things. So, it's either some cheap chinese knock-off type, or a hollywood fabrication. Best of luck in identification; I recommend posting in the Knife ID forum, and getting Bernard Levine on it. Otherwise, my guess is a hollywood knife or a cheap Chinese one not worth it's weight in lead.

Edit: I was just surfing, check out the Columbia River Bear Claw. Not sure if it comes in wood, very possibly hollywood mod. Looks almost exactly the part. If it is off the shelf but not CRKT, then it is certainly a knock off, and not something most Bladeforums members would like to point you to. If they do, great, but don't expect it. I'd say expect a quality wallhanger as is. If you'd like a functional piece, either see if CRKT does a good version or get a la griffe and customize the handles, otherwise get a full custom. Sorry I couldn't help, but I tried.

Fred Perrin has made a large variety of custom La Griffes, including many with wood handles and a considerable variety of blade shapes and lengths.

Zero_Time's opinion about wood handles on neck knives is not shared by many.

Fair enough. Stuck my neck out on a topic I don't know much about (neck knives in general). Usually I turn out to be wrong, but erroneous or off-the-cuff info like I gave usually garners a response from more well-informed members here :p.

Best of luck with the search. I would doubt it being a custom La Griffe, especially given the context of the character pulling it out, but then again Hollywood uses more Surefire M6s ($400 flashlight) than Maglites (at least, that's what one opinionated member on a board I can't remember said).

Sorry about the erroneous information, but you did get Cougar Allen giving you information; who, in my opinion, should be considered among the top .5% of members here in terms of good info.

I agree it's probably not a Fred Perrin custom -- if it were we would have heard about it before the movie came out.
