I am looking for a knife that is medium size, may be used in hunting situations and can be opened with one hand. What would you suggest?
Thanks

Andrew is correct.
The Spyderco/Wegner/Blade-Tech knife is one of the best "folding hunting knives".

...Then there is also the Cold Steel Large Clip-Point Voyager, and the REKAT Pioneer II (in its' drop-point blade-style), or REKAT Carnivour or Carnivour Cub...

Hi Sporter... If you have a budget, then go with the Spyderco, but if you can afford a little more, then why don't you look into a custom production. What I mean by custom production, I mean knives like, "The Sebenza" by Chris Reeves, or "The Pathfinder" by Andre' DeVilliers, and the "Kasper Fighter" by Pat Crawford. Spyderco's are tin can covers compared to the knives that I have mentioned. There are many others, not just them. Don't forget, you want a knife that will give you years of good service, Sturdy. and easy to sharpen.

Just my 2½¢... Good luck to you!

The Spyderco mentioned above is the correct answer. You may as well get a sharpmaker 204 too........

I'm with Glockman99 on all the REKAT reccomendations.

But hell, if you're jumping from a tree and stabbing your deer, bear, rabbit etc... I would reccomend my new found love - MOD CQD MKI or MKII

What no Sifu? Cpirtle, I'm going to have to disagree! The Sifu is perfect for tree knife hunting. Tree knife hunting?

Despite intimations to the contrary, the Spyderco isn't a cheapo. But, if instead of getting a knife designed for your stated purpose that also is surprisingly useful as a tactical knife, why not burn another $200 plus and buy a gray turd with no ergonomics?

If you want a top end knife, try to get ahold of an Ed Fowler Pronghorn. Course, that's a straight edge, but it will provide truly high performance. And, it's beautiful.

Ahh, yes...I must have mis-understood sporters' intended use for his "hunting-knife" in his quest.

Since he MUST mean to use it to HUNT with, then he DOES need to get a REKAT Sifu MONSTER-folder. (Sporter, sorry to go above your "medium" size limit, but when you are "hunting" WITH a folder...

I have 2 Sifi, and I guess you'll have to picture ME stomping-through the woods, with a Sifu in each hand, looking for a deer to "harvest"...

What kind of hunting situations?
I agree with some of the others, that the Wegner would be probably be a good choice, and you could do alot worse than a Sebenza, though, personally, I prefer a fixed blade over a folder.
For general use, I'd go for something like the Camillus Talon (mine's the 154CM version), or Spyderco Moran Featherweight. Both are good, handy knives and good bargains. I haven't used the Moran, but one of my buddies has skinned several deer with one, and raves about it.

Bugs,
You ever handle one of those grey turds with no ergonomics? Or an Ed Fowler knife for that matter?
Sebenza feels great in my hand, better than most, and the next folder I buy will probably be another one.

some obsidian flakes tied to the end of a stick might work nicely...

For hunting purposes, I have to say the Spyderco Wegner is ideal. Another option would be the new Benchmade Griptilian with a similar shaped blade. I recommend you spend the extra money on a knife that will not let you down.
