What knives are our troops using?

lol...:jerkit:

How helpful.

OP: they carry whatever they have, usually. My brother (USMC) carried a CRKT M16, a Gerber Diesel and some BM. My cousin (ARMY) carried a Leatherman Surge, a Ka-Bar TDI, and that Fairbairn dagger-thinger. Of course, individual units will put restrictions on what they can carry.

Here are some knives the Dutch army used/uses. The one most right is the one they currently use.

Take your choice, whatever you like chances are that some service member is using one. I personally have a microtech cross hair, an ontario rat-3, a rat RC-4, a spyderco endura and a bunch of multitools which see the most use.

If your looking for areccomendation A leatherman wave, a ZT mudd, and a rat RC-4 would have you covered.

whatever we buy. At deployment time you usually end up with a freebie of some kind. Ive never seen anyone actually issued and use an M9 bayonet.

I know of one who carries a Swamp Rat M6 from the Swamp Rat Custom Shop, in a Spec-Ops sheath. I gave it to him as his Going-to-Afghanistan present.

I couldn't send a buddy to A-Stan with inferior steel; Crom would not approve.

From what I've seen or heard, a lot of Becker f/b and CRKT M21 or M16 folders. A few Spydercos with the EKI wave feature also appear now and then.

NATO has a list of "approved knives" for troops to take into the field.

basically, they contacted a bunch of manufacturers for some samples, beat the crap out of them and compiled their list from the results.

it's a pretty extensive list too afaik.

i carry a ZT 0200 right now but i have also carried kershaw ram, spyderco endura(issued),kershaw blur and always have my Izula with me
