What knives changed your use and collecting in a major way? Or, how SBW refocused me!

If you have collected or been an enthusiast for an extended period of time you probably have had the uenxpected happen. A safe full of knives all of sudden have lost the shine they once held over you. You had collected your favorites
Religiously for so long. And now this odd knife you had never given two looks has fit your hand like no other. It does everything and more than your dyed in the wool standby. And slowly the collection is reshaped into the new standard that is the core of what drives collectors and some enthusiasts.
This happened to me with Sniper Bladeworks. The LPC just fits my every detail of what makes me obsessed over a knife. I have always been into the big heavy folders. But for one to be heavy, tough as nails and overbuilt as hell but still having machining like my Omega, I'm hooked!
Here is a pic of the pair that changed me. Anybody with similar thoughts I would like to hear them.

Happened to me in 1994 with Busse knives. I haven't wanted any other fixed blade brand since, except for one Dozier skinner and one Ruana (for reasons of nostalgia.). I am now tapering off buying Busses, not due to disenchantment but due to advancing years and a collection I have to start disposing of because my heirs would have no idea how to dispose of them.

For me it was a Tom Krein Ultimate Caper and Scrapyard Knives 311 in Elmax. Using a knife ground thin all the way to the edge for performance. That is a beauty to use.

My Microtech Whaleshark finally made me realize that it's worth waiting and saving up for a really, really nice knife. Previously I would get a new knife, have a little bit of a honeymoon period, and within a week be anxious for my next purchase. Now I'm still admiring the awesomeness of the Whaleshark and have no problem saving up the money for a HTM Gunhammer without making any impulse purchases.

For me it was the Busse family of knives. Although I own and use SR101 knives, my INFI ones are my favorite. INFI has spoiled me into using my knives really hard. Not because of the customer service but because I know the knife will perform. (Based on my testing). I probably don't need anymore knives for the rest of my life but I am more than happy with the few I have. I also love the Spyderco Para 2, in s30v. It feels dainty compared to my fixed blade knives but it stays sharp forever and is always there when I need it. The OKC RAT 1 is no slouch either, albeit a good deal heavier.

My first CRK did it for me. A large micarta Sebenza 21.

I've since sold off almost all of my other production knives, bought another Sebenza, and placed orders for four different custom folders in the course of just over one month.

I still want to try a Strider because of how everyone raves about them, especially with the new fit and finish, but I think that the simple and gentlemanly style of the Sebenza has shaped my collecting interests in a way. I got an Umnumzaan and sold it two days later. Even though it was another CRK, the Umnumzaan is no Sebenza...

Busse really seems to grab a lot people. I have yet to buy one, but I have come close oh so many times. Fixed blades and folders have separate but equal importance for me. So I'm afraid it will be an expensive day when I finally give in
Spydercos are another brand that grabs me with special designs. I have a few Guntings that I use when I'm carrying a revolver in thsummer to give me a backup weapon. They also have the P'kal, Breeden Rescue, Yojimbo2 and recently the Tuff. They all get use in the specialty they are intended for. And for the quality, they are quite affordable. Especially when compared to one of customs.
