My son is going to be born in March. I was thinking about getting two CRK’s (large 31 plain) and hunt down a specific date. CRK said they’d help me with that. I was curious if any other manufacturers have knife builds with specific dates?

Congrats.

I am not sure I understand your question......you are looking for a knife that has an actual date of manufacture? If that is the case, I am sure any custom maker would be happy to give you a birth certificate with the knife you want to commission/purchase.

On the production side of things, I know TOPS used to include a card that indicated when the knife was built. I do not know if they do that anymore.

So, any CRK knife I’ve gotten has gotten a certificate with the build date of the knife. CRK told me to contact them when I had an actual birth date and they could tell me who got what shipment. Then I could contact the shop and see if they had any left. I thought it would be cool as a 16th birthday present or something as I’m sure the knife will be in a different generation by that time. I was curious if any other manufacturers did the same.

Cool idea.

Microtech knives have the month and year printed right on the knives themselves, either the blade or the pocket clip. I don't know if they also provide a card.

And they're made in the USA, if that matters.

Congrats on your little one!

Maybe get yourself an engraved knife with the day he is born too. Buck custom shop, DLT, among others do engraving.

I think GEC and some of its cousins used to do that. It seems that I remember that the guys on the Traditional Forum prize (and add value when selling) the little tube they came in with a handwritten date on it.

Michael Morris at Morris Knives etches the date the knife is made on the blade. You could probably ask him to make one on a specific day.
