What kukri should I go with? Hard use/woods.

I'm looking to get another kukri, and from KH. I have the standard military one, that I used a lot, but quit once I noticed the handle started cracking. I asked about it on there website and was told the panawal models, but I was more interested in the Bahadur and the KHHI kitchen.

Or, my other option is to design one, but I am really unsure of what the cost would be?

Welcome Logan09 !
Are you specifically asking what Himalayan Imports Khukuri to buy?
We here cannot rightfully recommend what you should buy from another manufacturer.

HI khukuris come with a lifetime warranty, so I recommend buying from them. The quality of mine is outstanding.

Thanks for the welcome. I signed up a long time ago, but was never on. The problem with HI is they don't have what I'm looking for. I didn't realize they had a lifetime warranty, but then again their blades are twice as much as KH so maybe that's why.

From looking at the KH website, the Panawal is nearly identical in size, weight, and shape to the Tamang knife from HI.

The HI Bilton is close to their Bahadur, therre's been a few others even closer in shape in the DOTD from the past, but I don't know what to search for since I don't remember what Yangdu called them.

As for the Kitchen, if that's what you like. . .

The HI Farm Knife seems to fit the same usage as the KH Kitchen, but is, IMO a better design.

BTW, when you ask about kukri on the HI forum, you're going to get very HI-centric responses.

Ya, I realize that now. My problem with the HI kukri's are the handle's. They all seem to be the same style. Here is my kukri from KH(After I re-worked the handle)

It's from 08' and has been used hard since then. But not to long ago the back of the handle started to split, and I am cautious of using it hard now.

Super glue or epoxy in the crack might fix your issue. If you're set on a non-HI product the best course of action would probably flag your own post and ask a Moderator to move it to the general forum.

As noted above, repair is an option.

I've used epoxy mixed with wood dust to repair handles before. It is not that unusual for a handle on a hard-use khukuri to require maintenance, or even replacement after years of use. As long as the blade is still good, repair or replace the handle. The blade should last for many many years, even if handles come and go.

I think I'm just gonna stick with mine. I already repaired the handle, and wrapped it in paracord. I guess there's no sense in me buying another one, when this one is still good.

Logan is that handle wood or buffalo horn? It appears to be too dark and slick to be wood...
