What maker/designer do you want all models of?

I was reading the thread about the Becker models that have gone away and how so far (minus the BK20 in the past year) there aren't any new models introduced and it got me to thinking. I've never considered myself a collector. I try to get knives that vary from one another and fill a void in what I have...and I believe in using them ALL. For example my first Becker was a BK10 (love that thing!). Thus far, I do not have a BK2 because it is too much like the BK10...even tho they are quite different. I have a few other fixed blades that are not Beckers, and some folders of course, but Becker is the ONE & ONLY line I really seem to want each model....even tho I can only use one at a time as my wife likes to point out . Maybe it's because financially one of each (that is currently in production at least) is actually realistically possible in the first place for me LOL. I know I won't be getting dozens of ZT's or Spyderco's for example.

Anyways, it made me wonder if you Becker fans have any desire to acquire all of the models of any particular designer/manufacturer? Fixed blades or folders...whatever your interest is.....

Hope this isn't a duplicate thread. It's my first new thread and I'm definitely learning the search function .

As a longtime fan and advocate for these knives I still do not feel the need to acquire ever single one in the line up. It really just comes down to form and function. There are some that I see myself never using so therefore I will not waste my money on it. Sometimes there is a design that I find visually unappealing, like the BK-4 (I might get stoned, in the biblical sense, for saying such a thing). If the aesthetics don't excite me, I generally tend not to pay it much mind, which probably makes me very shallow...

That all being said, I would love to acquire the majority of the lineup, because most of them can fill a niche for me and most are simply beautiful. This line of knives is exceptional and it is such a testament to the quality and proof of design that they are so loved.

Here is a similar thread: Pick the Becker line-up

Edit: And to answer your post title question, I cannot think of another line of knives that I desire more from their line-up than BKT. Most manufactures provide a rather diverse line-up, something for everyone in a sense.

I'm gonna pipe in here and say, aside from Beckers (which I have pretty well covered at this point) I'd like to own all the ZT folders and fixed blades. I own a few (OK, more than a few) and while I don't love every one of their designs, there isn't a one that I wouldn't put in my pocket, strap to my belt/pack or (almost forgot the pens) slide into my pencil protector. Build quality is outstanding, most of the designs (IMO) are pretty cool/sexy/hot and materials are top notch - and they are a joy to use.

As for Pàdruig's aesthetic preferences, I had a few of those, too - now I have a couple BK-4's, despite my initial impressions (smaller than I thought it would be, not visually appealing) because when one uses it, one begins to see the beauty of it. To each, I guess....but I'm glad I took a chance and decided to "expand my horizons" - the Machax is a favorite of mine now. Extremely versatile and functional, it's aesthetic appeal grew exponentially when I started using it and discovered that it looks that way for functional considerations....and now, I don't see it as weird looking - I just strap it to my pack and head into the woods, knowing I have a capable tool at the ready.

No, not really. I like variety. I don't like getting focused on one maker or style. At one point, I had acquired 6 Beckers. (Out of my 15ish fixed blades). I felt like Beckers were beginning to be over represented my arsenal. I had a couple that didn't really fit my uses, so I traded one off. May trade another one too.

As much as I love certain makers like Becker, Benchmade, Bark River, etc... I prefer variety.

I am partial to ZT myself and carry one in my pocket just about every day. I stopped taking it with me to the woods though because I was terrified that I would lose a $300 knife  .... I would absolutely own a ridiculous number of ZT's if I didn't care about budgets or children or food....

As far as the BK4, my brother-in-law (known for being drawn to ugly knives) absolutely adores his and has certainly proven its effectiveness. So it is certainly a user, not a looker in my book. I probably won't buy one though unless I find one for a price I cannot pass up... I can relate to your sentiments regarding it though. I have an old Ka-Bar Camp knife that I picked up at a local store because I couldn't find my other knives for whatever reason at the time. I thought it was ugly as sin but the price was right and it quickly became one of my favorite users and its aesthetics became that much more appealing as a result.

Yeah I really like my ZT's as well, but there are some that just don't speak to me. Sorry GSOM....but the 0456 is one. I don't doubt it might be different if I held or used one tho.

^ Ok I can agree with this! ^ I don't have any currently, but I will soon.....starting the M18 (insert Tim Allen...ok is it a laugh??.....aarrr haaa haaa here LOL

I have about half the Beckers, and that's just about right. I definitely don't want all of anything that I don't feel fills a good niche, even if my use is only theoretical. Other than that, I want the full line of Daizees (Daizeeies? AUKs?). Still need a 'muk and rigger for myself, plus about 14 others. :D

I don't want it.

I've never had an order for a sheath for one, and it really doesn't appeal all that much to me.

I like most of Andy Roy's knives from Fiddleback Forge. Only a few designs I don't care for.
I like most designs from Daizee, Bill Siegle and 710.
NixKustoms is putting out some nice designs too.

As far as folders go I like Spyderco. Again, most designs...definitely not all.
A few from Benchmade. Love the 940.
I like Rick Hinderer and Chris Reeve. I still want a Sabenza!!

i'm pretty sure i don't have them all, certainly not variations, but most, sure.

it's been a couple decades, so it's not like i was super diligent. they just show up.

I have been trying to every fixed blade made by Western and Kabar, as well as 1 of every US bayonet, by manufacturer as well as rifle model.

Then I started on European bayonets.

Won't ever achieve those goals due to the scarcity of many of the early Westerns/Kabars and subsequent sky-high prices, but I like the search. Early 19th century socket US bayonets are tough to locate, and some of the ACW versions are like hen's teeth, with relatively few made and most lost/destroyed over time.

Trying NOT to go down the Japanese Arisaka Type 30 rabbit hole. I have a couple of representative versions, but over 8.4 million of those puppies were made i 95+ series. No way in hell to ever get 1 of every version. "D
