Let's say I wanted to carry just the head of a hawk with me hiking to reduce weight and bulk. This would be for emergency use so I'm not expecting to use it. But, if I had to use it what would be an easier head to haft? Which is better/stronger?

Making a haft for the cs trail hawk like this:

Or making a haft for the eco hawk like this:

I think they both have their advantages and drawbacks. Looking to see what others think. This would be in addition to a small belt knife.

I would think that the haft for a Trail Hawk would be the stronger of the two. And as long as the top is bigger than the opening in the head you wouldn't have to worry about securing it to the head. The eco-hawk should be easier to carry than the Trail Hawk head, though. If it were me, I would carry the Trail Hawk head.

+1 I agree that the trail hawk would be the better of the two as far as carrying a hawk goes but if were talking which of the two is the more versatile survival tool i would have to pick the eco. Guess it just depends on which one you are more comfortable with..... 6 of one half dozen of the other.

Ben
