Is a shadow pattern slipjoint simply any slipjoint that doesn't have bolsters? The scales are all the same material?

No bolster but could be different scale materials....

I picked up my first "shadow" from Todd Davidson and just love the pattern :D

Well, I guess it's splitting hairs, but to me if you have two different materials making up the scales, you have one serving as the bolster and the other as the "scale." So, let's say you have carbon fiber and Micarta, whichever one is forward toward the pivot would be the "bolster," no?
