I have for some time now been 1005 loyal to spyderco, though i have always like the look and idea of the sebenza. I am now considering saving up to purchase one but i was really just wondering what makes it such a worthy investment. Pretty much this thread is for all of you sebenza fans to say why you love it so much.:)

It's the kind of thing that you can't really appreciate until you own one. The feel and the craftsmanship make it a knife unlike most any other. To top it off there are so many different graphic, inlay and blade options that you can certainly find one (or many) that will suit the inner you.

the sebenza is real nice. For me, its the benchmark for getting from productions to customs.

The Sebenza IS the BEST production knife out there!! Actually the Sebbie IS in a class by itself. There is production, then there is the Sebbie, and there is custom. You have to own one to appreciate the wonderfulness that IS the Sebenza.

I got my first one about a month ago and have not regretted it one bit. Fit and finish are top notch and it just "feels good" in the hand. I bought a Micarta Inlayed Classic Small and haven't carried another knife since then.

These knives are truly in a class all their own.

Marksman, what is the name of that handle design?

It looks awesome!

Thanks,
Jon

I was in the same predicament as you until a few days ago. That's when I received my first Sebenza (a regular/large).:D I still really like Spyderco's, but the Sebenza just feels like it is in a completely different league (quality, fit and finish, and price fits in there somewhere:p). They are really solid knives, mine has no blade play at all and opens up really smooth. Go get one, you won't be disappointed!

To be completely honest I don't know I ordered it by seeing a picture of it and although it had several letters to it I never really knew the actual design name. I really do like ithe blue (which doesn't show up anywhere as vibrant in the picture. Here's a different one that shows it a bit better.

Chris Reeve, when he designed the Sebenza, he nailed it. There is only ONE folder that is a Sebenza.

And don't forget NY Marksman, where else could you get such a cool left hand dedicated framelock? A custom maker perhaps but I doubt any could produce one as nice as the one you posted.:thumbup::D

Producing an easily available left hand model is a big reason I buy Sebbies from CRK. The fact that they are the best knives made (for me anyway, some people just don't get it:confused:.) is also a real plus.

IMO in a number of years these knives will be worth a fortune. I consider my knife collection to be my stock portfolio that I can use and enjoy now!;)

The difference is quality. As was said above, the Sebbie is in a class all by itself.

The people (many of whom I met this weekend) who scream and say, "$400 for a knife, I could get one on that table over there for $30." are not sebenza people. But if you appreciate quality, it is for your.

These knives are solid, eye apealing in design. function is solid and fits comfortably in the hand. Well worth the money, a lifetime investment that can be passed on.

Ignore all the graphic designs, the Damascus steel and all the wood inlays. Ignore the remarkable design and best quality fit and finish. The Sebenza still has one attribute that puts it at the top of my list - YOU NEVER HAVE TO ADJUST THE PIVOT TENSION, EVER.

I've EDC'd a small, plain Sebenza for a couple of years now and there is no way I would go back to a knife where I have to tinker with the blade tension. All my other folders just sit while I carry either a Sebbie or a Mnandi.

Extreme quality is hard to find. Chris Reeve and Company embody this concept of extreme quality in all aspects from design and engineering, manufacturering, sales, and customer service. Above and beyond all this is the feeling you get when you hold and handle a Classic Sebenza. This feeling is difficult to put into words. This quality is not fleeting, it will last.

I'm a huge Spyderco fan and I love the Sebenza. The fit and finish are absurdly good and even holds its own against customs twice the price. It's a great working tool and also very elegant for a knife designed to be a hard user. Spyderco has nothing in its lineup even remotely close to the Sebenza so if your life is lacking variety take a look at the Sebenza. It is a great EDC piece.
