What material are Benchmade's thumb studs made of? How do they color them like on the bugout?

Benchmade customer service said all the screws are Stainless steel, but if the thumb studs are stainless as well, how did they get such vibrant and shiny colors on them for some of their models?

Same with the pivot collar for the Benchmade custom Crooked River, what material are they? If not titanium then what method does Benchmade use to color them?

I think it's a coating of some sort. Kind of like the Cerakote (sp?) or DLC on a ss blade I'd wager.

The pivot ring on the crooked river is aluminum, so they are anodized. Not sure about the thumbstuds, but the colored ones may be aluminum as well?

Oh I see that makes sense, thanks for the info, I've been trying to figure it out for a while.

Do you know what the standart benchmade pocket clips are made of?

Pocket clips are stainless steel.
As for colored thumb studs I’m willing to bet anodized aluminum. It isn’t a coating.
