Would you say this is worn, dirty bone or worn, jigged Delrin?

If I had to pick I'd say delrin. Old bone tends to gain a translucent quality, at least around the edges.

I´d also say, that´s jigged Delrin. Jigged bone somehow looks a little bit different to that one - I somehow miss the "grain" of bone... ;)

Great looking knife - BTW

Thanks, guys! That's kind of what I was leaning toward. No, I don't have it in hand yet. I'll take some better pics when I get it. :)

That's Delrin, or at least what Case calls 'brown composition' or 'brown synthetic'. Case first started using true 'Delrin' (as trade-named by DuPont) in 1967, with the introduction of the Sod Buster in black Delrin (2138 pattern). Prior to that, they used some other forms of synthetic/composition material, though I've no idea what specifically it was. Your knife looks like a 1976 date stamp (4 dots), so I'd assume it's the real Delrin. What's the pattern number on that knife?

It's a 6202 1/2. Really looking forward to having it in hand.

The collecting guide* I often refer to lists the 1970 (some) and later vintage 6202 1/2 as having handles made of 'Delrin'. So, there you go... :)

The guide also shows earlier versions from the 1940-1964 'XX' era had 'Black Composition' handles. Other versions, prior to and including 1970, were also in bone and stag (stag was the 5202 1/2 pattern).
