What mfgr's feature would you like to see on another's?

Obviously, we all have our favorite knife (or knives).

If you could take a specific manufacturer's features, design, heat-treating, proprietary steel, manufacturing method, just plain anything to another manufacturer's knife what would it be?

For example: I wish REKAT would license the "wave" opening to a special line of Sifus.

Another exampe: A Sebenza with a Spyderco hole.

Actually, I was thinking. If you could cut out the front/top portion of the Spyderco hole (i.e. 1/4 of the hole) on some of their knives. Would it become a "wave" opening/thumb opener?

I like the Axis more every day. I'd like to see it on half the knives out there. Love the smoothness, the tip-up carry, and the fact that it's ambidextrous. It's added strength doesn't hurt, either.

How about a Darrel Ralph EDC or Apogee (got my eye on those the other night, and haven't given a second thought to another knife since)w/an Axis lock(for tip-up carry)?

Yeah, I'd love to see the axis lock employed on more knives. Also, I'd like for more manufacturers to use a thumbdisk.

I've been doing searches, and just discovered that the Apogee can be had with tip-up carry. My mistake.

Wanted to add that I'd like to see the Wave on some other knives (including Emerson's own Mach I), and cut-outs for the index finger (like an AFCK or Commander) for better control and security.

I had an ATKO-8 with a gun-metal blue finish on the blade; I saw the same rich color on a Darrel Ralph custom. I wish one of my Microtech Tanto SOCOMs had this same finish instead of the flat black-ti finish.--OKG

I would love to see a REKAT Carnivore with a
flat grind 440V steel blade, thumb disk or Spyder hole. Have the whole knife made using Microtech production standards. Lastly, give the damn thing a blue handle! I think I just described a custom Carnivore from Pat Crawford, hmmm. Maybe I need to pop over to his website.

I'd love to see the a commander with an axis lock.

The axis lock can be exceedingly smooth. This smoothness would go great with the wave. The axis-lock would probably absorb waved openings better over time, and its self-adjusting would deal with wear.

I also wouldn't mind seeing it in 440-v or whatever its called now. That toothy sharpness, combined with the recurve, would make it even more of a cutting machine.

Now, I'd love a CRKT KFF with a Rekat Rolling Lock, and G10 scales. The steel of the blade could be better, but I enjoy using my sharpener!

Not to speak out of school, but for those that were interested in a recurve (Commander like) knife by MT, it's in the works as we speak. (The reason it wasn't on my list)

Here's a link to the Concept knife from the Atlanta Blade Show and the prototype they are currently working on now (shown on the bottom). The Amphibian features a plunger lock, with a twist. A secondary, automatically engaging safety has been added. There is a spring loaded sliding safety built into the spine of the body, near were you thumb would rest in a Saber grip. To close the folder, you simply slide the spine safety, push the plunger lock and fold the blade. Awesomely solid design.

Their looking at making it a completely ambidextrous design. The teardrops on the sides at the thumb studs, one on each side.

The bottom proto is not complete, but you can see that they are going to make a provision for a lefty pocket clip if the customer so desires.

Again, it's just a prototype and does not necessarily reflect the completed design. It's a work in progress and the final version may vary

An M2 AFCK with an Axis lock---or---an Axis 710 (M2) with a Spyderco hole.

A Cold Steel ATC with a BK&T handle and sheath---or---a BK&T with an ATC blade profile and grind. I like all the features of the BK&T products and I also like Carbon V so this wouldn't matter either way.

An HI 15" or 18" Ang Khola with a Becker type handle.

A Becker Machax scaled up about 125% so it is about 25% larger. Same proportions, just a little more size.

Any of the Ontario Blackwind swords (or any Ontario knives for that matter) with full tangs and micarta scales.

That's about all I can think of...
