... I really can't find the words to make sense of the confusion I have over this threads existence... did you upload the right picture?

Ok so assuming you did post the correct picture than I will ask how is your eye sight and reading comprehension?

Sure scarab but navy? Navy has insert on side button which this doesnt have.

Cmon guys.... Clearly that is the new Halo VI - Combat Troodon Hybrid secret project. Under development for years and supposed to be shown at Blade show this year. Placed covertly into a scarab box so that Zero Tolerance cannot see it. That will keep it under wraps and avoid future lawsuits on both sides. Thanks for spoiling it and disrupting the industry for years to come.

This is why we can't have nice things.

I see the source of the question here.

The only consistent difference I can see between a regular QD Scarab and a Navy Scarab is that a Navy Scarab has channels milled into the exposed base of the blade that appear to be there for the sake of drainage.

This does appear to have a Navy Scarab's milling on the base of the blade. Not being an expert on Microtech products, I am not sure what the blade marking typically is for a Navy Scarab model, but the majority of the examples I have found through google image search are marked "QD Scarab NSWG". I am also unsure of when Microtech switched over to the new, smaller boxes, but, I thought it was after 2015?

Hi Laurin, I'm not a MT expert , but that's not a navy model, it's a QD Scarab with a the navy style blade.
It doesn't have the ridges on the side to hold the rubber seal and as you noticed, it doesn't have the navy button.
I hope that helps

laurin laurin I did a quick image search for both QD SCARAB and NAVY SCARAB and what I can find it every blade for a navy is marked "QD SCARAB NSWG" and every QD SCARAB I find simply says "QD SCARAB" beyond that I couldn't find a difference in the two based on these findings it is the ole whiskey & bourbon analogy. All bourbon is whiskey not all whiskey is bourbon or in this case all NAVY SCARABs are QD SCARABs but not all QD SCARABs are NAVY SCARABs.

You can find a Scarab with the same blade stamping and milling at the Hollow Grind. A non Navy.

Thanks. That is my question - I can find qd scarab but without channels milled into the blade ...

Check The Hollow Grind website. You can find a regular QD there with the milling. May have to Google QD Scarab SE and use the visit button, but they are out there. The one on THG is the same year as the picture you posted.

Could this be a Chinese Microtech clone made by Vespa Knives or Andy Xu ?
Vespa also makes a Combat Troodon clone that seems to be very well made:

It's a QD Scarab with a navy blade. That's it. Microtech put out several of these guys. I guess they had blades left over from the Navy run. What blew my mind was seeing the QD Scarab with a Tritium button and Double edge blade. FACTORY! So......There are many, many variations of Scarabs.
