Years ago I remember a drop point version of the Sharpfinger. I love the Sharpfinger and want to get a copy of the other version. What is that model and where can I find one?

Welcome to the forum. I think you mean the 156 OT, called the 'Little Finger'. Last producted in 1985. Wonderful knife. I have one from the Schrade Scrimshaw lineup, a 1981 vintage 509SC.

I think Schrade was bringing this knife back into production for the 100th anniversary, but that's not going to happen now. Your best place to find one is on Ebay.

I thought the sharpfinger was a 152, the drop point was a 154, and the gut hook was 158, excepting, of course with the scrimshaw versions. Isn't the 156 the one with the metal bolster/ fingerguard?

Still cornfused and trying to learn!

I gave an incomplete answer. Thankfully, one of the other members here (thanks, Larry!) sent me an excellent photo that ought to clear things up.

The Knife in the upper right hand corner, the 154, is more likely what Smabe is talking about. Still available in many stores, online and brick.

Sorry for the misinformation

Thanks Textoothpk and Larry. Do you know the names of each (i.e. 152 Sharpfinger) and when they were introduced and discontinued? This whole series of fixed blades is of particular interest to me. I know the 165 was called Deerhunter and was produced from 1967 thru 1991, if my source is correct. And I know that the Sharpfinger was produced until the end here in 2004, but not when it first appeared on the market. The 150 was the Deerslayer, and the 160 was the Mountain Lion?

I appreciate the replies. That is exactly the knife I was looking for. I have always liked Schrade knives and hate to see them go out of business. I ran out and bought an extra Sharpfinger the other day.
When I was a kid I had a German Boker stockman I carried. It is about sharpened away and has been in a drawer for 25 years now. I like German Eye knives, but they seem to be a thing of the past, too.
I found a Little Finger on line and am bidding it so maybe I'll get it in time for deer season. That knife makes a lot of sense. I may pick up a few more Schrades while the getting is good.

Mtncur, I just got a new 165 fixed blade from ebay. The sheath has some slight carry wear, but the blade and scales are mint.

I am trying to get one each of my favorites new, put back for the future, or for the grandkids. I am also grabbing a few good users, called edc's for my hunting and for rescaling in nice woods.

There are still some good buys out there. Just don't get caught in the feeding frenzy going on right now on ebay. I've seen the 165's go for up to $76.00 recently, but got mine (without box and papers) for $25.00.

Good hunting to ya!
