What model is this?

Some clarification needed.

In order to buy one of these knives there are two possibilities: A) Wait until Swamp Rat has another run of them, when this will happen is basically anyone's guess, or B) Hope that someone sells theres in the buy / sell / trade sections of this and other forums.

Is this basically correct?

I have an Ontario RAT-5 D2 coming in soon but would much prefer this knife or something of its like by Swamp Rat, Busse Combat, or Scrap Yard. I am guessing the same strategy applies for each with the slight change of Busse usually having a list of things currently available.

Pretty much.

A) Wait until Swamp Rat has another run of them, when this will happen is basically anyone's guess,

Best bet is at a Ganza or one of the shows like Knob Creek or Blade Show. Only Isaacson and the shop knows when the next run will come.

B) Hope that someone sells theres in the buy / sell / trade sections of this and other forums.

There should be some that crop up periodically. They were selling new in the last 12 months. Try posting in the WTB section of the Exchange for the best results.

That's my EXACT Ratmandu! I love the combo, one of the few knives where G10 feels great to me.

One of my All-Time Favorite Swamp Blades RMD,I have the Green/black G10 version to match my Chopweiler....

A great alternative to the swamp rat RMD is the scrap yard DM.

It has a slightly shorter blade and shorter handle (you may recognize the handles, it comes from the old busse basic), and thicker blade (the CG version is .285 & the DC and LE versions are .250). The DM has SR77 and RMD has SR101.

How well does the RatManDu function as a chopper and with battonning? I am limited to blades upto 5.5" and prefer the micarta or g10 scales.

This is my ratmandu sandwiched betwixt my old style ratweiler and one of Nick Allen's beautiful 5"ers.
