jot singh khalsa C40

That's correct>> they also made that knife in Spyderedge as well as plain edge. I used to have the pair I wish I still did. It came out in the late 90s I believe.

It's probably one of the most interesting looking Spyders ever along with the Captain model>> but yet few people ever used or carried one that I know of. If I remember right I think the blade was GIN-1 and the handle was Micarta. It's one Spyder where it seemed like the Spyder-hole kind of got in the way. But it was a very solid built high quality piece. I'm kind of hoping that someday maybe Jot Singh Khalsa and Spyderco might just do another one.

I had one in spyder edge that I sold. I now own a plain edge. I love the design but I'm bugged by the fact the basic design is great but some details are not. The finger groove in the grip provides fantastic grip and security which makes the oversized choil unnecessary. The oversized hump for the hole makes choking up to the choil uncomfortable. Lower the hump and bring the cutting edge back to the edge of the finger groove and you'd have perfection.

I tend to agree with you for the most part>> the Spyder-Hole is truly in the way of operation as far as opening. Now the handle itself is very comfortable and the one I worked with once really cut well. GIN-1 takes a nice edge but it is very tough to sharpen. The Spyder-hole position is really the only bad gripe I have about the C-40

My dear unknown friend in Virginia,

If you read the URL of the image, you will see it's named C40 jot singh khalsa.
You wonder why I know this?
That's easy ... it is my picture, my knife, my flowers from my garden ... :p

I had a pair, they had the smelliest micarta ever!

Wow Rick!! that's really strange  I've had 4 of that model all together over the years and even had one that I used for a short period of time and I never had that problem before

Hey Brother I'm not doubting you either because I have had Micarta handled Knives before that did have a strange odor to it. But the Micarta on the Khalsa and the C-44 Dyad are very similar to each other and I'm wondering if they aren't from the same vendor? I had 10 of the big Dyads at one time and the Micarta on all those models varied from being really rough looking to the point of having kind of a canvas look to them>> all the way to being virtually polished like the one I'm currently using. I've never had an odor problem with any of that Micarta however.

Did you buy both of them new in the box? Because I'm thinking maybe they might have been stored somewhere and they absorbed the odor from some other source
