At a gun and knife show I saw a Gerber knife off on the side of a vendor display. He was talking to someone when I asked about the knife and said he didn't know anything about it, but it was mine for $40. When I looked at it , it was a new Gerber that looked exactly like an LMF II on steroids. It is bigger, more hefty, more meaty with a nice LMF type sheath with a cool (but probably not too effective) knife sharpener. What model is this? I looked on the net and didn't see anything. I feel like the price was good, no doubt about it, but which model is it? It says Gerber, Portland on the blade. It is a twin to an LMF II, but way more big and stout. I believe the blade is a 5+ incher.... Thanks for the help ya'll...

The knife came from a reputable guy. Big dealer, so I doubt the fake part. He had dozens of Gerber products etc. I have a pic but I am new and can't attach things yet. Thanks......

Did it come in a box? If so, what does it say?
Do you have a receipt? " " "

But he didn't know anything about the knife? :(

I'm certainly hoping for the best and that its an LMF II.

Plus a lot of dealers can get faked out with the best of us, if they aren't careful or the fake looks really good. I don't know who would painstakingly fake a Gerber well enough to fool a dealer.... but they are a bestseller in most markets so... guess it could happen.

Is anyone familiar with a larger, beefier LMF with a 5 inch plus blade? I didnt find. one, but hardly means I'm right.

I believe what you have is an LMFII and what you thought was an LMFII was something like a Gerber Prodigy. The shitty ineffective sharpener in the sheath is the giveaway for me as I own one of these knives. Did it by any chance have leg straps and a MOLLE sheath? The most tell tale indicator would be the butt cap. Does it have a large, glass breaking/skull cracking pointed end with a flattened top?

Oh yeah just a thought, just Google LMFII, click the images tab up the top and see if your knife looks the same. Whilst the LMFII, Prodigy and StrongArm have very similar blades, the handles differ more considerably and the butt caps (is this the right terminology? I'm a noob to this site, this is only my 2nd post) are the most individual features. Try that. Good luck bruz. Springy.
