What model Victorinox SAK do I have?

I picked up a decent condition vic at the flea market today. Not sure what model though. Sort of similar in size to an Explorer. It has black handles, 5 layers, corkscrew in normal position, but it has a crosspoint screwdriver blade opposite to a magnifying lens on the main side of the knife.

The thing that caught my eye is there is a small inlaid silver rabbit on the handle on the opposite side from the normal victorinox logo. The rabbit looks to be a thin actual inlay, not a painted or printed mark. I am sure this is a factory marking, but I have never seen this before. Does this signify a particular model? Can anybody help me out, I have been looking on-line but have not seen anything with this mark. It is used, but in excellent condition. TIA.

Thanks for the link. I compared mine to what is listed there. Mine is a 91 mm "jumbo" model, 5 layers, but the blade configuration does not exactly match anything on that website. The closest configuration is the 4 layer original Explorer, except mine has a wood saw in the extra layer. I hope that makes sense. If you look at the original Explorer they show, my knife is exactly the same, except it adds a woodsaw hinged on the same side as the scissors and magnifier and it is black rather than red. None of the other 5 layer knives shown exactly duplicate this configuration. Also, the rabbit emblem depicts a rabbit on four legs in silhouette, it is not a cartoon rabbit. Also, after careful examination, the rabbit may be a silver colored application using the same method as the silver Victorinox shield on the opposite side. I appreciate any feedback. I still think it is some kind of "model" marking, but I have never seen one like it.

This knife has a large blade, small blade, bottle opener, can opener, magnifier, scissors, wood saw, phillips screwdriver, lanyard ring, awl, tweezers, toothpick, and corkscrew.

The fact that this knife does not have the hook leads me to believe that this knife was manufactured before 1991 when the hook was added to the backspring of knives that have scissors.

It seems to me that this knife is either a retired model or more likely (due to the non-standard rabbit emblem you describe) a custom made knife for someone or some organisation.

Hope this information helps you in your search.

I believe that you have a pre-1991 Woodsman model. It is hard to find, and no longer in production. Nice find!

Thanks TC. I looked up retired Woodsman on the website above and the blade configuration matches exactly. I will be keeping this one. BTW, any ideas on the rabbit emblem? It seems a perfectly odd logo for a group or organization, especially with no wording or other graphics.

I can't say about the rabbit. The only thing that comes to mind is a series called the "Canadian Series" that had wildlife like cougars and such on them, but I think that they all had a maple leaf on them also. Maybe someone else here will speak up. You could also ask over on the SOSAK forum on www.knifeforums.com. There are a LOT of people there with lots more SAK knowledge than mine.

Perhaps specially made for the International Brotherhood of Magicians!

;^)

Seriously, that is a very nice find - you just never know what you will find, and there are so many variations that came out over the years.

Great stuff!
