What modern folders use non-stainless, high carbon steel?

I was just wondering if anyone could recommend some modern folders that use high carbon steels like 1095, o1, a2, something along those lines.

Thanks!

Look for one of the makers here on the forums, Ray Laconico, he makes really nice edc/tactical 01 folders. keepem sharp

Most of your old line working knives use plain carbon. Case's yellow handle sodbuster has CV, The German Mercator K55 is a carbon, as is the French Opinel and Douk-Douk. All are great cutting knives.

Spyderco's Gayle Bradley uses M4, and I know there's a Benchmade that does (but I can't think of the name, sorry).

If you count high-alloy non-stainless tool steels, then there are quite a few.

The one's I can think of at the moment are Benchmade's CPM M4 Ritter Griptillian and many of Kershaw's composite blade folders.

The one with the black blade is CPM M4

The cutting edge on many CB Kershaws is CPM D2

 The latter two I'm a big fan of. Their aesthetic might be a little more old-fashioned than the OP is looking for, but they're still sweet little blades.

Nice to see wood scales on modern folders. This is a rare example of a modern-looking folder I'd consider purchasing!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I really like Ray Laconico's work, and will definitely keep an eye out for one of his!

the 1095 carbon in gec is excellent. to obtain m4 you will have to spend lots more money & there are fewer models. m4 is my favorite alloy but it's also pretty expensive.

Agreed. Sadly, it doesn't come from the factory like that.

The production knives in carbon steel include Benchmade's many D2 models, the M4 Ritter Griptilian, the Gold Class Griptilian, and the Spyderco Gayle Bradley. (Awesome stuff, by the way. )

Isn't D2 a Tool steel and not a Carbon steel?

Anyway, the man's work ain't cheap, but Lance at Sniper Blade Works uses 1095 in alot of his folders. I've got a Large LPC and I am very happy with it. Excellent work on these customs.

If by modern you mean light weight, pocket clip, one-hand opening, Moore Maker makes some like that with 1095 steel.

if you want one of the ultimate in carbon blades check out Sniper knives. i saw a video or test on one of their folders with a differentally heat treated 1095 blades. if this info was true the folder cut rope forever. was in a class like a fowler or burke straight knife.the blade looked like it had a clay temper process similar to traditional japanese swords. i had heard of some makers tweaking 1095 to do amazing things & believe many alloys with enough heattreat cycles which takes lots of time could achive similar results. when one starts heattreat cycles that take days amazing results can be had.
