What music moves you? You know while your working around the house on in the shop. I like to listen to all types of music to get me motivated. You can find me in the shop with some valhalla viking music or some good old southern rock on at any given time. So what do you like to listen to and why.

I remember classic rock being Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Cream, etc
The oldies stations play Def Leppard, AC/DC, and Aerosmith, now. Sometimes Skid Row and Slaughter

Usually just rock and hard rock for me. But, to get pumped or stay awake it's metal... Meshuggah, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Pantera, Sepultura etc.

I have very little interest in anything recorded after 1986 unless it's Rammstein, Ray Wylie Hubbard, or Hayes Carll. I generally prefer stuff from the late 60s to the early 80s. One thing I've noticed is that every time I hear a CCR song, I remember that I never get tired of hearing CCR. I don't know if it moves me, but I never get tired of it. Stones too, but less so because they have more stuff I don't care to hear. Same with AC/DC, Judas Priest, Van Halen, etc.

Not really relevant to the topic, but -- Top 10 concerts I been to were Roger Waters doing The Wall (best show of any kind I've ever seen), Judas Priest (far exceeded expectations), Kiss (encore only), Meat Loaf (amazing energy, especially for a fat old man), and any six Al Stewart shows (best live performer I know). The Eagles, Queen, Van Halen, Gordon Lightfoot, and Rammstein were memorably good too, but not top 10. Weezer was pretty good too. But Steely Dan live was so bad they almost ruined Steely Dan for me (which would suck, because I really like Steely Dan). George Clinton live did ruin P/Funk for me (which really sucks, because Maggot Brain is so frickin' awesome). It's like they weren't even trying. The only worse live performance I've seen was a stinking drunk Hank Williams Jr. (opening for ZZ Top), but I never liked him much anyway, so no great loss there. Oh yeah, and Roger Waters "Us + Them" tour. I somehow managed to mostly blot that out of my memory so I could still like his "The Wall" show. And Pink Floyd.

But anyway, pretty much everyone I mentioned here except Hank Williams, Jr., could fit the category of music that moves me.

I grew up on and still love classic rock such as Zeppelin and Floyd. Also love southern classic rock such as Skynyrd and Allman brothers.

These days I am mostly into electronic music and like I mentioned in another thread on here, recently got some DJ decks to learn how to mix tracks together. I actually just put in an order for monitor speakers for this purpose. Went with KRK Rokit if anyone is familiar with those.

Classic rock is what I used to default to. During college, my roommate always had Coldplay playing when we were studying, so I've been conditioned to that now when I need to get working.

When I working on something else (hobbies), we have a variety to choose from... We love Acapella and other instrumental music.

When driving home after a stressful work day, I put on some Spanish guitar in the car.

when I'm doing something that requires alot of concentration I put on something that I dont love but dont hate either it just fills the background with music so I can focus better.

Yup, that's kinda what Coldplay does for me. It's something in the background, but I've heard them on repeat do many times that I can pseudo-ignore it.
