Everyone here has their direction, and style on what types of Busses they collect, and beat..

Simple enough…

What is your style and preference overall?

Here are a few to start. I like the older simplistic style from early 2000s thin profile (standard handles) fat steel stock on the choppers.

Straight handle (timeless design) yet purpose driven on medium/smaller models
Micarta everything…

Top to Bottom :

1 st gen heavy ordinance grade fusion steel
Fatty hammered game warden
1st gen heavy ordinance grade fusion heart
Game warden LE

Desert anorexic badger attack III
Jungle Defender
Public Defender

Are you limiting it to Busse only or can we include any members of the family (Swamp Rat, Scrap Yard)?

This is part of my problem, I have no direction 😂

If it looks cool I buy it. If the handle is different, I buy it. Cool g10, mine.

I have been thinking about thinning the herd. Then I walk into my knife room(really just a closet) and mess with them and find reasons not to let them go. This is why I prefer to trade, I get a new shiny thing lol

I hear ya. Taken me over a decade to figure out. Sampling many of the various models, and talking with fellow collectors provides good insight.

Or.. some folks just like a little bit of everything.

Either way there’s going to be a core attribute, and style of what appeals.

7-9 inch blades, design on the simple, straight forward side.
Big handles with functional finger guards rather than ski jump ramps.
Satin blades.

But... I like being impressed with something new.

Honestly for me the OG Swamp Rats for sure.
And still are. I no it’s blasphemy but I kinda quit looking and buying big knives. For me quality machetes are king in spring and summer. Come fall hunting knives are king and winter well anything goes but no machetes.

My swamp warden and Gen 1 howling Rat and battle rat I use the most.

The camp tramp not so much anymore but do use it for kindling at camp.

I favor the big ones most. Like em all, but...probably my favorites would be short butaniku, gladius, test team killa zilla, smatchet, fmb , nmfbm, hognose war sword,

Jerry moves me.

Performance moves me. All those Busse ads in knife magazines back in the late 1990’s comparing INFI blades to other mfrs blades and then the cutting demo’s etc. back in the Mike Turber days here made me want INFI. Hadn’t seen that kind of demonstration in many years and then the Free Rein series was announced with demos of SR-3V. I have no use for a sword, but if I ever do, I know that’s the one I need—of course I had to buy one.

So yeah, Jerry moves me. Never really understood why until I read his musings about his Cucamonga Wilderness epiphany back in 1980.

(Hey Jerry… anything still buried out there?😎)

Oh…and I really like the Basics.👍😁
