What my knife did today

I carried my new G&G Hawk MUDD today. I had a few irrigation issues to work on. I dug out a hole and needed to cut some rubber water supply lines. I reached for my MUDD and began cutting. Hoses cut, job done.

Cool. That handle looks nice, and hand-filling. I like a good hand-filling handle.

Speaking of G&G Hawk, several years ago I discovered their TOAD knife. It looked really great, always wished I could have had one.

I see 'em on the Exchange occasionally, but not cheap.
For a minute, I thought you just cut your hoses with the MUDD. Glad to see it did the "hole" job.
I had to use my Zaan several wks ago to dig a hole in a hurry to turn off the water MAIN, and to pry out the cast iron pipe cover. My Zaan did the job quite well, but I did manage a nick or two in the blade edge. My diamonds will take care of that.
It's nice when they earn their keep.

No better way to dull a knife than dig in the dirt with it. That's when you appreciate "bad" steel (e.g. 1095 at 56RW) because it sharpens up so fast and does not chip as easy.

On Sunday I used a full sized BM Bone Collector to "trim" a pressure treated 4x4" post. It stood a wee bit high hehe! That handle is comfy for tough jobs, can't say that about a lot of my folders.

My Kershaw Knockout spent the day collecting lint in my pocket.

And I have this feeling that it loved every lazy minute of it..

Congrats Mike, that is one beautiful knife. It really is a grail in my opinion. The Hawks really do design some of the best knives around. I hope it serves you well for years to come.

Schuey, that sounds like what my 0560BW did this past Sunday. I didn't hear any complaining from the RFP either. :)

I love my RAM but I could never warm up to the MUDD. I really really really wanted to like it, because I wanted a larger version of the RAM, but the MUDD is just too thick for pocket carry IMO. I also missed the flipper of the RAM, so I sold my MUDD a while back.
