I've been carrying a CRKT M16 12z for about 10-11 years now as and EDC duty knife and never really paid much attention or been otherwise interested in knives as anything but a "tool". My interest in knifes as both tool and useable collectables has peaked in recent months and I made my first knife purchase in over a decade last month. After lots of lurking here and online research I decided on a Spyderco PM2 and found a black DLC at a shop in Vancouver while on a work trip. So far I love it! But now I have a problem that seems to be common to many.... I want more knives.

I'd like to stay in the same price range for now and am looking for something comparable to the PM2. Manual, 3-4 inch blade, and lefty friendly when it comes to the pocket clip. I'm not picky on manufacturer and would like some opinions and recommendations from the gang on what to feed my new addiction with. Unfortunately I don't have any local shops to go and get hands on with anything so the next purchase is going to be sight unseen online.

Cheers,

Benchmade. Griptilian, or Adamas if you really want to go big.

I wish I could recommend Zero Tolerance, but as far as I know, all their knives are right-hand framelocks....

I'll recommend ZT then. ;)
The knives have flippers much like the CRKT and can be easily opened and unlocked with either hand. I'd also recomend the Kershaw Blur in S30V. That is one of my top 3 favorite Kershaw knives.
Cold Steel American Lawman is also a good knife, as is the recon 1 clip point as is the voyager.
Emerson CQC-8 is a popular knife and for good reason. Benchmade 556, 710, 810, 551, 275... All good.

I was thinking Benchmade grip or a left handed Emerson but those will run a little more. ZT has a few knives that are close to that price range as well.

I was in the same situation last year. I wanted a BM similar to the Para 2, and I got a Griptillian. Honestly, the full size one is not my favorite. It is kind of cheap feeling, and not nearly as solid as the PM2.

The BM Barrage or 300-1 is much more solid, as is the mini-Grip. The ZT 350 or any of the ZT line is good, too.

From Kershaw, everyone has to own a Skyline.

Thanks guys. Some of the Kershaw offerings look interesting. I like the shape of the Blur but doesn't look like the pocket clip is lefty friendly. The Piston and Knockout also look interesting.

I don't own and have not handled the Knockout, but I do have the Piston. It is a really nice, well designed folder. It was available in g10 for a while, but is now available with aluminum scales. It's hard to beat for the price, good steel, comfy ergonomics, and the blade takes a really good edge (easy to sharpen too).

You might want to check out the large Benchmade Bone Collector Axis lock folder. SOLID as the day is long! And it is lefty friendly with the clip, and of course the Axis Lock is righty or lefty friendly, it has no favorites.
