I've been stalking the mailman for three days, and my slippie addiction is knawing at me something fierce. I need to order something new to appease the monkey on my back. Any recommendations?

I think I'm good on GECs for now (until the 3 backspring whittler comes out), but I could use another Schatt or Queen, or maybe a Canal Street. What are you gentlemen liking these days, that I should pick up? I'm trying to stay in the $100 range, so unfortunately the Case/ Tony Bose collabs are out.

Thanks in advance! :)

I'm kinda liking the new Case Pinched Bolster offerings. Knifecenter has 'em and you can probably get two for around $100. They're not GEC's or CS's but they look pretty good to me.

Chill Out for a few days save you're money for a few days and buy you a Case/Bose Arkansas Hunter. You won't be sorry and you will have something that you use and still gain value... Over the years if that's of any importance to you...

Why not learn more about traditional folders from the 20s through the 60s, there are so many patterns and manufacturers available for far less and back then most well known companies, (Queen, Case, Shrade, ect).

These knives have more character and personality than most new mnfg. companies are tryin' to copy.

I'm not knockin' CSC or GEC, I own newer Queens and a couple of CSCs and they are great knives but I love the older classics from the early part of the last century.

Save your money and get that Case/Tony Bose. Or, go for the older models. I found a couple good ones in the junk bins at flea markets, farmers markets etc, little bit of elbow grease, they work great, look great. Of course, they are not gems that will command high prices, but still have charm for me.

The heck with it. I ordered the Case/Bose Arkansas Hunter. New Graham had a pretty good price, so I went for it. I got the chestnut bone- I couldn't find any in ebony at a reasonable price.

Thanks, fellas!

I promise you will enjoy the knife long after the pain of parting with the bucks passes.

(If not, what the heck, I'll buy it from ya and you might make a buck or two). ;)

Thanks Bastid, I appreciate that. I'm sure I'll enjoy the knife. I've heard nothing but great things about them. My real fear is that I'll like it so much that I'll end up "having" to get more.

When the first ones came out (1998 or 1999) that was the most I had ever paid for a "factory knife".

Now I look forward to them each year. :D. I am already counting the days until the Shot Show when the 2009 pattern is announced.

Those old knives can be great to hunt for also. You will be amazed at the quality.
Sometimes they can be picked it up for a song and a dance (trust me in my case neither is pretty or worth a plug nickel, but the old knives can be amazing.)
