Well, I curtailed the knife mania, the gun mania, the flashlight mania, the truck accessory mania.

Now I have Maxpedition mania! I have a Jumbo, Devil Dog, Pygmy Falcon II and Barnacle. Looking for more too .

Holster mania, Scotch whisky mania, tool mania (yes, you need that 300 piece tap and die set. So there.) Computer mania, music mania (twenty more gigs, and I can justify a new ipod!) Polishing mania (everything must be shiny. EVERYTHING.) Book mania, sock mania (One can never have too many socks.)

Whatever you do, DON'T get into photography!...That can be a very expensive hobby.:D.:D.

no kidding. i just ordered the jumbo in OD green bc they were out of the foliage green (which i liked the most) oh well. OD it is

Maxpedition is addictive gear. I want an OD Colossus so bad I can taste it. But I already have a Jumbo. But that colossus just calls to me at night.

maybe you should collect used shoe laces that would be much cheaper

Just picked up Maxped Methuselah for work. This bag stye (BOB, gear bag) is discreet and spacious. It's considerably less $$ than other bags of this type and holds a lot of gear, including a small laptop, or in my case, work gear and a small amount of paperwork. Two thumbs way up.

Cameras, optics (binoculars, scopes, NV, thermal...), mountain biking, skiing, backpacking, rock climbing. You can use the truck to get to the trailhead, then backpack/climb/ski/bike from there to scout with the optics to find where to take pictures, and take some game for your dinner. Important to stack your hobbies so as to do them all at nearly the same time.

You skipped watches, pens, home stereo, and computers/pocket PC/iPhone/blackberry so you're still doin' ok.;)

Lighters, phones, bottles, random tactical gear, impact weapons, paracord wraps and knots, and let's not forget alcohol.

Don't forget multi-tools and other cool pocket tools (Atwood, etc.). Then you can start collecting everything in titanium. :D

Try collecting relatives. Genealogy is not too expensive and very rewarding.

Very true, I have been thinking a lot lately about my uncle, who I am close to but only see at funerals:(. Not too far up the road, only three or four hours, and he has a standing invite for me to come visit him anytime.

I collect all the above and for years have also been collecting (stealing) ballpoint pens. just the cheap ones like at Drs offices, banks that kind of thing.

Run, don't walk, and talk to your uncle. I recorded interviews with three of my grandparents. Several hours worth of family history. All are gone now. A lot of information would have been lost if I hadn't taken the time to talk with them.

One of my favorite stories from him is when he was a little kid. Good Lithuanian Catholic, dressed up in an all white suit for his first communion. Walking home, he spotted his buddy picking coal from a small coal deposit. He rolled his sleeves up and started helping his buddy. His words, "My family needed coal, and I wasn't wearing the suit again anyway" :D.

O.K. I'll have to come out too... many pairs of really good hiking socks are a under valued item to have on hand, I mean really..who thinks of socks?
