Greetings,

C'mon, its been out for over a week???

Well, I watched part of the first episode, and a most of the second. It's in line with his original show, tho now he's the host more than the 'actor.'

Seems putting some 'ordinary' folks into some semi-challenging situations is proving to be a little more than they bargained for. Hauling those big ol' packs up the side of mountain was (and is) a pretty good quad-killer exercise. And if you not acclimated to that altitude, its a double whammy.

Just wish it didn't appear to be a massive 'BG' marketing campaign...everybody is wearing his gear (not really surprising) but its like in every shot, and prominent every time the participants have a mini-interview.

Tho, his new knife is looking a little better. And they did get the pee-drinking out of the way on the first episode.

So love it, hate it, or meh?

Like it so far, for all it's faults, it's still better than most of today's TV.

And he's executive producer, so I can't blame him for highlighting his products over some other brand.

The one thing I thought was funny, was having to turn in your knife, like getting your torch put out on "Survivor". Saying to someone "I'm kicking you off the show, and ruining your chance at $500,00.00, now approach me with a big knife", might not be the best idea. :)

I watched the first one but just couldn't finish the second episode. Looks like a advertisement for BG products. Wife said he needs to go back to his solo stuff, I told her theres only so many times you can watch someone getting dropped off in the middle of nowhere and surviving until they make it to the extraction point. I do like some of his clothing though.

They don't get to keep the knife? Oh for pities sake! They could have kept them as mementos. -_- Ugh. I'm disgusted.

I actually like Bear.....agreed that it is still better than most anything else on TV. I haven't seen this show....completely forgot it was on.....but I will track it down and take a peek.

I started watching with the idea they would be in the wilderness for an extended time like him or Les Stroud on their original shows having to find food and water and do it with a limited amount of tools. They are all carrying massive backpacks with tons of gear and the show is making it like they are going camping for the weekend. I know they are supposedly staying in the woods or wherever the whole time but the show makes it seem like they are staying one night somewhere and then being taken out by helicopter to who knows where. Their challenges aren't that challenging either. Build a tent with provided tarps and tent poles. Cook food that we provide for you. Make a fire with easy fire starters. And they are always next to water!

I watched bits and parts of it, but not enough to form an opinion on it. I usually forget it's on, and I'm just about never browsing the TV.

Colorful fella. You think he is actually sleeping with the group during this show?

I have not seen the show yet. I need to try to remember to watch it. I wish NBC would do what Discovery channel does and run it frequently for folks like me who don't pay much attention to TV schedules anymore.

Looks like they might have full episodes available on-line: http://www.nbc.com/get-out-alive/?__source=Reso_GetOutAlive_MediaAd&hcoref=search&WT.srch=Google

I do have to admit, I'm kind of interested in both his updated Ultimate Survival Pro Knife and his touser's line. The reinforced knees, etc. might be worth a look. Anybody got a pair?

Yeah I was surprised they threw in the pee drinking so early. I mean the first episode and they cut straight to drinking pee. I figured they'd save that till later in the season.
It is a complete Bear Grylls gear commercial. All contestants wear his clothes, use his gear, etc. Also they throw tons of plugs for proctor & gamble and wal-mart. And they have to find people that know absolutely nothing about the outdoors to compete, otherwise Bear will have no lessons to teach them. But most of those lessons are common sense it seems. These guys make a lot of bad decisions. And Bear always gives them something un-appetizing to eat. What I'm not sure of is why they eat them raw? I mean those grubs would taste better cooked. And the fish roe sacs are actually good cooked. I eat those cause they are pretty good. But I don't eat them raw.
I honestly don't see this show making it past 1 season. I could be wrong. But I suppose for the average folk it is good entertainment. In a survivor/ fear factor sort of way.
As far as bear grylls pro ultimate knife is concerned, it looks way better that the regular fixed blade they were selling. I think they should dump the regular line and go pro only. There are a few YouTube vids of the pro. Sounds like gerber listened to all the complaints of broken pommels etc and tried to make a more functional knife.

The new knife looks much better than the previous version. It can take a beating.

As far as the show continuing, they need to change some things in it. To me it really just seems like they are on a long camping trip cut into overnight segments. Too many pieces of gear with them. They may as well be backpacking, which really is all they are doing.

I also think them competing with naked and afraid is a mistake too. That show, even though it is a gimmicky show, puts people in real survival situations. Do the same with the bear grylls contestants and we got a show. Those women are hot!
