Yep not one Becker, going through the many knive's weather getting warm and not one becker say it aint so. So a Becker I must gather Question any difference between old and new BK9 as I believe that is the one I should start out with, Camillus VS Kabar is my question Thanks in Advance

Camillus - not as good of a heat treat as kabar stuff I hear

Kabar - great heat treat. Active warranty. Cheaper usually. Ethan loves kabar.

I don't know much about the Camillus versions as far as a Quality comparison, but good luck getting Camillus to make good on warranty issues. Kabar Heat Treat is awesome and you can't go wrong with their customer service.

Welcome !!

The Camillus BK9 is thicker (.21 vs .188), with their HT being a bit harder (aka, not as tough). It weighs a bit more, should chop a bit better and it comes with slightly different grivory (according to others, I've never handled one). If it has Camillus micarta that is also slightly different (blockier).

Check out the Becker Blade database (one of the stickies in this forum...) for more info.

Good luck :D.

Thank You it Sounds as a Ka-Bar is in order and the BK9 as my chopper, Thanks for the heads up

I have no complaints with the performance of my Camillus Beckers. My BK-5 is still going strong about a dozen years after I bought it.

Some of the Beckers made in the latter days of Camillus have horrible grind lines.

Get the Camillus if you find one new-in-box and want it for a collectible.

Get the KaBar if you want a good user because that's the current production and still has a warranty. Camillus doesn't because Camillus, the *real* Camillus anyway, no longer exists.

KaBar makes a top quality knife. You can have confidence in what they make.

no reason to not grab the KaBar BK9 now, and check it out

it could be some time before you find a Cammy BK9 at a good price even

LE MACHAX on sale today. Get a bk9 later. Machax now. And a bk5. Def a bk5

Thanks for all the info as the Ka-Bar BK9 should feel welcome with the Heavy Bowie as that is my chopper as of right now, Tomars is gonna love me as I can not buy just one, yes collecting is a favorite past time, but user's are better IMO not that I don't have a bunch of Safe Queen's just like using sharp tools, Nice bunch of guys and gals over here in the becker forum will show some photo's when the BK9 show's up.

KEEP EM SHARP

Clich the Machax just not for me but the BK5 yes and I saw the one you modded you got some talent there some real nice finishes and mods I think I am gonna get in trouble if I hang out here to much well Thanks one and all as I have to get back to finishing the Ka-Bar Collector's Knive's take a peek if you get the chance. So a Bk9, BK5, BK17, BK15, BK16, and a BK2 That should do for now all user's no Safe Queen's.

You'll be fine. It's your wallet you should be worried about. :D

It's nice to meet a new guy that I don't have to strategically manipulate to get em to try the bk5. I feel like I'm not needed anymore....excuse me while I go sulk.....

Bk5....

Wallet took the hit from the Kabar's, I look forward to the becker's as I see nothing but USER'S which is my favorite kind of knife, this will be easy because the wife has no problem with buying tools for camping, hiking and the beach as all these purchases will be needed 1 way or the other.

The Bk5 is a must looks like a good user, with the ability to take some abuse Clich just makes them look to good for use
