C'mon Man! All that jungle action and no Machete? Really, you gotta come up with one.

Who here doesn't want one?

Come on Mike, I know your itching to make the ultimate RAT offering.

I'll be first in line.

I doubt that RAT could come up with a machete that is American made and be cost competitive. You can order machettes for under $10 that even Jeff has recommended (style at least). They are made in South America by people that use them in their everyday life so I am sure the design has been perfected for a long time.

I'm sure your right. The same could be said for a 3, 4 , or 5 inch knife but the RAT team pulled that off and there not what I would call "cheap". I would love to see a higher end machete designed by the RAT Team.

me too, theres plenty of knives available for 10 bucks but people pay plenty more than that all the time.

I find it curious that the machete, the most useful and arguably the most used sharp implement on the planet gets so little attention from the better makers.

Me to. I don't buy cheap tools....ever. High end or mid end at least. A machete is a tool and I need to cut some stickers in the backyard .:) Alot of ppl buy those Swamp Rat they are a $$$

What? you dont want to drop $400?

I don't want to speak for Jeff or Mike,,,,,,but from reading several of jeff's posts....I think thought of building a $100 latin machete when you can buy a perfectly good one for 7 bucks is just plain stupid to him......Of coarse this is what I read into his statements I could be wrong......Drew

MAybe, but it has also been said that the demand is there. So one is still left wondering.

Well, the RC-10 is right around the corner. And as far as quality machetes go you can't do much better than Condor. Jeff himself highly endorses the Condor El Salvador machete. I have several and I like them a lot!

In this forum? I've seen a few thread's about "what machete to use/buy", but I don't know that I ever seen a thread where a ton of people want RAT to produce a machete.

Correct me if I'm wrong...I'm no expert!

If that was the case you can buy alot of $20 fixed knives also. Why buy any RAT knife if you can get cheaper?? PPL will buy a machete just because...
I guess when the RC10 comes out that would guage if theres a market??

So Condor is the company everyone is talking about? I dinged the crap out of my machete on a rock this weekend... DUMB DUMB DUMB... I know.

Should I look at Condor as the new one? Price sure sounds right!

Had a discussion similar to this with Jeff at BLADE 08. He said it would be more expensive, and not do much more for the price, than a typical Machete. He did recommend the Condor line of Machetes to me & I picked one up & it worked out great.

I highly recommend the Condor stuff. I have three, and I use them all the time for tons of tasks. The quality simply has to be seen to be believed. Nothing like a mirror-polished convex grind straight from the factory! :D

Where are you guys seeing these condor machetes for 7.00?

I'll stick with my "cheap" machetes.

Although if RAT Cutlery released a RAT line of snack bag clips with micarta slabs many people would buy them, so a machete would sell just fine I think.
