Hello all! I'm torn between the Mark VI and the Mountainer II - anyone have any opions about the pros and cons of single and double guards?

The only thing I thought of is that the top guard may get in the way if I'm trying to choke up on the blade. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I just got a Shadow IV with double guards. I can see your point about the choke-up, but it seems to me if I were going to try to put some force behind the blade I'd be using the butt of my other hand. I like the double guard better, but it's just because of the symmetry. Can't justify it otherwise, unless of course I was using it to defend myself against a swordsman!

I like the feel and cosmetics of the double cross-guard..

I do not find it a hinderance in use..
Thumb fits just forward of top cross-guard for downward exertion no probs..

Hope this helps..

Take Care..

When you can't decide on which Reeve is perfect, do what I did, buy them both.
