What locks are self adjusting and what locks have the least room for self adjusting.

cheers

Self Adjusting...

I would suppose you mean that the lock would engage differently during wear and tear
Basically every knife that has resistance/lock when you attempt to close it has the "self adjusting" capability.

Off the top of my head{There are a ton of locks out there, just listing the more popular ones):

Lockback
Tri-ad
Frame Lock
Liner Lock
Ball Bearing Lock
Compression Lock

Fixed Blades :p

Most will I think.

Lockbacks less so. Of course there are exceptions but generally lockbacks don't adjust much.

Framelocks and linerlocks adjust much in my opinion. But lose to the triad lock in terms of strength.

I consider Cold Steel's ram lock (pocket bushman) as being able to adjust the most over time. It just 'stabs' the ram lock bar deeper over time.

Very few locks I've used aren't self-adjusting. As others have mentioned, most of the commonly used locks are self adjusting to various degrees. Hell, even the little ring that locks my Opinel knife is somewhat self-adjusting.

Any well designed lock self adjusts. If they didn't, you would start to develop blade play pretty quickly.

Funny , this is exactly why I don't like the axis

My 710 developed a MASSIVE side to side and up and down play , which impossible to resolve even if I tight the pivot to a point the knife basically becomes a fixed blade , the play is still there

I do abuse the knife , and I flick it hard , and a lot , but still , I do it pretty much with all my folders , and none of them developed such a severe play , not even close

Maybe my 710 is a lousy lemon , but still , this kind of play is absurd

I can tell you Benchmade Customer Service and Warranty Repairs is excellent.

Might want to send it in since that would bother me as well.
