I have many some as BOB's some as regular use for backpacking and day packing...and a couple of old briefcases set up...
So what do you have?
Thanks,
Steve

I have an EMR, a Navigator, and a Marauder.
I have heard nothing but good things about these packs.

They aren't cheap, but they aren't cheap either.

For carrying heavy loads, I use a McHale custom Inex Bayonet. It can be made shorter for small loads too, but it's quite heavy. For light loads I use a McHale summit pack that is super light but suitable only for very, very light loads.. There really is nothing to compare to the Mchales for loads over 70 lbs or so. For waterproof purposes I use vaude. I'd love to find a Blue Canyon, which has been discontinued, but all I have is a Hobb Creek. For kicking around I use a little Arcteryx and an old Willis Gieger made of Bush poplin.

Ive got a Vango Liquid 25 lightweight rucsac I use for when I'm rock hopping along the coast. When I'm not its my BOB. Its quite new but I'm pretty satisfied with it. I recently got a chance to try a mates Solomon Azimuth 100 and I've got to say that was very comfortable and I know hes pretty pleased with it. He uses it for mountain marathons. anway Vangos website:

Tactical-Tailor

I have had the tactical tailor for 5-6 years and been on many hikes and international trips it is still in perfect condition.

dana and MS really have top of the line reps in the mountainclimbing world..

I prefer something in the back pack realm because if all else fails you can put your essentials comfortably on your back and huff it!

I have tried a single strap on duffle bags and walked for a few hours with 30-40lbs of gear...... it just is not efficient! cuts down on mobility and time, where as a backpack fits comfortably on your back like your favorite knife in your hand.

I think you can get it from Brigade Quartermasters, maybe Cheaper-Than-Dirt... It's expensive, especially in light of two other versions being available - one in basic black and one in either TigerStripe or Flecktarn (but they don't have all the features of the Becker!) It'll hold enough and carrys well... even has pockets for my CETME mags and tunnels behind the side pockets to carry my Criswell short Waki ready for an over-the-shoulder draw...

Forgot to mention mine.....
I work just across the river from where the Twin Towers were....
I use an old briefcase with some stuff in it...
A very old Lowe Expedition (trusted friend on most hikes...)
a Gregory Carbon Cassien (which I'm sorry to say I haven't used near enough)
A Jansport purple thing with a leather bottom that I can't remember the name of though I use it often
And I just bought the biggest Camelback...like this one a lot......
And I have the MOLLE system stuff....

Sorry I forgot....for every belt I have, I have a MOLLE canteen cover on it chock full of survival stuff....

Standard ALICE pack with frame. I still haven't found anything more comfortable and useful.

Camelbak HAWG(military model) in Woodland Camo(BOB)
Blackhawk 3-Day Assualt Pack in Black(Day Pack)

Gryphon,

Berghaus Vulcan OD color, bought it as surplus in like new condition, it's used by our Marines and Commando's.
The 2 side pockets can be zipped off and then zipped together to form a day pack.

Smaller Dutch army "day" pack in Nato camouflage, big enough for a day/weekend outing.

By the way, are you still interested in the Firesteels you wanted? I still have 5 reserved for you but haven't heard back from you for a long time, if you don't want them just let me know and we'll make some other forumites happy.

Best Scouting wishes from Holland,

Bagheera

dana designs bomb pack... I keep that one in my truck

kelty pack 3000 cu in. ( not sure of the name its old)
keep that one in my car

Dana Astralplane for backpacking

Also have an Eagle Becker and a BHI Patrol pack, the Eagle is the better of the two.

When I use a hydration system, it's an old Eagle Liquidator. IMO the best constructed and toughest of such packs.

Currently for a day pack I use one from Black Bag something or other. Small company and OK for day to day but not durable enough for much else.

I paid 20 bucks for a pre-owned Lowe in Nepal in 1990 and it's still going strong. Otherwise a couple of Dieter day packs.

MACPAC cascade for long trips (awesome stuff for the price), daypack is currently a SALOMON wind up 300 mountaineering pack, CAMELBAK mule (2000 model) for hydration only pack and SALOMON RAID 300 for adventure races.

btw, does anyone have any feedback on the MOUNTAINSMITH DYNO? I'm looking at getting one from a friend.

Work: a 1994 Hedgren (tan & brown), great bag, it's taken a lot of abuse.

Longer trips: kelty

camelbacks: have two 70 oz. versions, one in black, the other is light blue.

I used to carry an Eagle Becker Patrol Pack, but now I use that as my BOB and take my Lightfighter RAID on hikes. Love that coyote brown color . . .

Eagle AIII is my fave at the moment. It's just small enough that I don't over pack, but it still carries enough to go for several days...
