I think I now have a good grip on patterns and models for very large single blade slipjoints with thick scales, but now am maybe considering two bladed models too. Google search hasn't been much help. Any thoughts? My favorite single blade patterns are Barlow, Clasp, and gigantic Toothpicks.

The Case and Schrade folding hunters are the biggest I can think of, and Case is currently producing their folding hunter in CV.

The 23 is pretty big, but I believe the Case folding hunter has them beat.

Have they made any daddy barlows with two blades? I've only seen one blade models.

Two blade folding hunters can usually be had for pretty reasonable prices. I've picked up a few over the years.

An Old Timer next to a Spyderco Military for scale.

Ditto to the Folding Hunters: Case 6265, Schrade 25OT, Queen #39, Ka-bar, Buck 317 (by Camillus), Moore Maker all come to mind. My favorite large pattern. :)

Case also occasionally produces a large saddlehorn (the 62100 pattern) at 5-3/4" closed. A beefy knife, with clip and a very broad skinner blade. Don't think it's in their current lineup, but I'd think they'd still be available on the secondary market.

Here's a vendor pic of a 'discontinued' large saddlehorn (Case 'Crandall Cutlery' 62100 SS) from knifecenter, a BF member dealer:

Thanks for all the great ideas. I am very excited about getting to know the world of traditional folders better.

I've got a non US Schrade 227UH that is a smidge over 9inches long open.
I think its the longest folding knife they make.

If you like them long but thin, here's a Case 2-blade melon tester, 5 1/4 long.
