What pocket clip knife?

I want to buy a pocket knife with a clip. I want a smaller knife (3" or under) and the s30v steel. I would prefer the black blade and want to pay less than $200. Do any of you have a knife or may know of a knife that will fill that order?

If you know about a knife that would fit that criteria but NOT one you'd choose, I would like to know that also.

Last question. Many knife dealers out there. Can you recommend one that gives the best prices?

Your insight is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

My vote is firmly for the spyderco sage I carbon fiber. You can pick one up for $86 shipped on ebay and for around $90-$95 shipped from various online dealers if you don't feel comfortable buying on ebay.

The sage I is a titan of cutting performance. Its 3 ounce weight, 2.99 inch blade, full flat grind, CPM-S30V, high traction CF scales, discreet wire clip, screw construction, excellent jimping, smooth deployment, and tight liner lockup make it an exceptional knife. From your description, the sage would fit the bill perfectly despite its uncoated blade. Check out some youtube reviews for more detailed info.

My advice is to take the extra $114, hold onto it and when you are ready to get another blade, you will have more experience to be able to make a more informed choice for the next one (and there will be a next one). :)

The sage 2 framelock is also in your price range, but I would suggest starting with the CF version as it is much more cost effective and has equivalent cutting performance.

Finally, please be advised that there is a real and substantial difference between S30V and CPM-S30V. The CPM-S30V is significantly easier to sharpen and holds an edge longer in my experience.

Good luck with your choice and let us know what you decide,

John

?????
S30V is CPM S30V they are the same. Both are made with powered metal. I have heard the same thing said about CPM S60V and 440V. They are both the same and both use the CPM powered metal process. CPM S90V used to be called 420V also.

Now CPM 154 is not the same thing as 154cm. 154cm is the same as ATS-34.

Buck will have their small version of the Vantage Pro on the streets very soon. 2 5/8" CPM S30V blade with polished G-10 scales. The bigger Vantage has a 3 1/4" blade.

Spyderco CAT is another nice smaller knife with S30V.

Kershaw G-10 Leek with S30V is also a great choice.

paramilitary, some benchmade 707 knives have S30V, the small Ritter griptilian, lone wolf raven, bradley alias II

yeah but honestly I'd go for the paramilitary, out of all of those it's the only knife with enough handle imo.

The BM 745 is a little long but otherwise it fits your criteria

And it's a sweet full flat cutting machine

benchmade 12800-801 can be had for 139.99. They have CPM-M4 steel which is bad ass and a coated blade. Only problem is that it is 3.4 in blade.

I'd suggest a Kershaw Leek. The 1660G10 model comes with nicely textured G-10 scales, a 3" S30V stonewashed blade, drilled for tip up or down and is SpeedSafe equipped. This is a Ken Onion model, and comes with Kershaw's best in the business warranty. About $85, and they are fairly hard to come by.

The picture has been stolen from New Graham Knives, and Mike is an excellent dealer and supporter of this site. You won't be unhappy with this knife or dealer.

Another vote for the paramilitary. Another nice blade is the emerson minia100. It doesnt have s30v though, although i dont think youd really notice a huge difference.
