I recently purchased a BK-5 off the knife exchange. Upon receiving the knife I was immediately impressed by it's weight/size/balance. The proverbial "you have to hold one in your hand to understand" type thing. I have other trailing point shaped knives but nothing that remotely resembles the shape or feel of the BK-5.
What obtainable knives are similar?

I don't know about matching the BK5 -- your closest blade shape to thet is a cimeter style butcher knife, but kabar came out with a budget line "trail point" this year that's got a pretty beefy handle that's not uncomfortable to hold onto.

Yours looks gorgeous....
It's my favorite Becker too. I carry it often on walks. Mine is tricked out a bit.
I wish it was still in production, which is Funny, since I sold one here this week.
I was planning on mods to it, but I have too many knife projects as it is....so I let it go.

I plan on making me one Without the coil, and probably without the swedge.
It should be a fun winter project

How they Blue that? For some one with very limited technical skills I always wonder how stuff like that gets done. I put a blue fire fly handle on mine. Green Glow Stones in a Blue Resin. In the theory it would get used a lot out side. But such big hunts so far not materialzed. But with my BK5 having clear and green glow stones, I found that knife over half a dozen times because it glowed at night from getting sun light all day.

The BK5 is my favorite as well. Watermelons and pumpkins cower in fear at the mere mention of the BK5.
Trailing points, for reasons that still elude me, just don't seem to sell well. As we well know here, it's a very useful blade shape.

the trailing point never appealed to me to be honest. then i got a bk15. and then i got a bk5 "for the wife"... and then i found out they're both awesome, and i'd love to see them back in production. maybe a stainless version? 1095 makes the onions taste funny if you leave 'em too long before cooking imo.

That meatcrafter is Cool looking!!!
Would of been nice and Stabby for Halloween.

BK5 Blade length: 8"
BK15 Blade length:5.5"
Meatcrafter Blade length: 6"
Work Tuff Atayal Blade length 8.2"

A few years ago I considered buying a BK 5 - I think it was under $70 on that gigantic site. I regret my hesitation, and have for some time now. But I also regret not buying the Camillus BK 7 when I saw it for $50 in a magazine in about 2004. Ah well...

Maybe we can petition it back into production. I wonder how many signatures Kabar would require 🤔
