What provoked you....?

Maybe this thread is long worn out, but....

What got you into knife collecting? What made you a blade fan? For me, its the fact that I can't carry a concealed firearm on the job. No restrictions on knives. Besides, like guns, a guy can't have enough knives, right?

Yes, this is a well-worn topic, but what the heck - you're new!

I'll give it a start.

I've been interested in knives probably since my first Cub Scout knife (wish I could find it now!). Always had one around since high school. Last few years, got into a habit of buying knockoffs at the fleamarket, built up a drawerful. Then a few years ago I read a couple of Dick Marcinko's "Rogue Warrior" books and he talked about the Emerson CQC6. I had never heard of one (I know, I know ), so I went looking on the 'net for pictures. I found knifeforums.com, and from there found bladeforums.com. Since coming here my tastes and purchases have solidly entered the "quality" realm, with a dresser valet full of Spyderco, CRKT, Camillus, Gerber, Cold Steel products. (no, I have not gotten a CQC6, or any Emersons for that matter)

Truthfully,I can`t ever remember not liking knives.I was in the scouts like many others here and had a BSA fixed blade that I abused the heck out of and later my Dad who was a tool and die maker made me a lockback that looked a lot like a Buck 110.I carried it through jr.high school till I finally broke the lock from excessive flicking.I`ve been a flickaholic for a long time.But what really hooked me was finding BladeForums.These folks around here have no respect for your financial condition.They just keep talking about Darrell Ralph this Kit Carson that.It`s really trying at times.All I can say is this.Welcome to BFC and have you been over to the Strider forum yet?Those guy`s put out one hell of a knife....
