I just picked up a lot REKAT knives and I am not sure what models they are or If they even made it into production. Only a few of the blades have there logo on them. At first I thought the black and the white scales were the same but they are not. The white have rounded corners. The first 2 on the left have no point or edge. The bottom one is marked prototype Tanto and is just a blank.

Welcome

Looks like the 2 on the left and the last on the right are the Escalator. They might be all different versions of the Escalator.

The ones with the big hump on the spine are designed by Bram Frank. They are called Gunting Escalators. The hump is actually designed to be able to catch on something and thereby flip the knife open.

Sort of like an Emerson wave but you use it when the knife is already in hand rather than when you draw from the pocket.

Very cool ! Looks like you even got two trainers . I expect those are pretty rare .:thumbsup:

I have just one Sifu, used to own 3 but sold two. Love that knife..you have a few ive not seen in years.

I'm no REKAT historian but I've always liked them and own two. I've never seen Escalators with drop or tanto points. That's pretty interesting.

Have you ever seen them in white G10? None of the pics I can find have white.

Pretty cool...I think answered well, but some pretty rare pieces in the collection. As mentioned, I don't think I've very seen a non-coated REKAT blade either. I own a Carnivore, Pocket Hobbit, and the massive Sifu.

Do you know the model name of the 3 middle knives? Also all of the ones with white scales have a polished blade. Only one with black scales has the polished blade.

The knives in the middle don't have a name because I'm fairly certain that they were never released. The Escalator model was produced toward the end of REKAT's existence, which is why you don't find very many of them. Those Escalator trainers are even harder to come by.

It appears to me that REKAT was experimenting with the idea of putting Pioneer-style drop-point and tanto blades on Escalator handles and you managed to acquire some of the prototypes. I've never seen them before, and I thought I'd seen every REKAT model out there!

Not all REKAT blades were coated. The earliest blades came with a polished/brushed finish (with black coating as an option), and REKAT also offered a stonewashed finish on some later models. Colored G-10 appeared rarely, but it was used; there was a red-handled Blade Forums special edition of the Sifu, and I recall a red-handled Pikuni, as well. I've never seen a white G-10 model.

You have some remarkably rare knives there and I thank you for sharing the photo. I'm not trying to pry, but I would be very interested in learning how you acquired them as a group. Did you buy them from someone who had an affiliation with REKAT?

I have a few of each of them in black and white, I also have what looks to be an assembly board to show how they go together. I traded for them. The guy I got them from purchased them from a bank foreclosure. No affiliation with REKAT.

Besides all of the knives, I have the final production run of all the parts.

Awesome! You have a bunch of stuff from a previously unknown chaptern in Rekat’s history when it looks like they were going to release the escallators in a new version with a more conventional blade shape. If you could somehow get them built and assuming no legal issue from the defunct Rekat there would probably be a ton of guys who woulf want a “new production REKAT knife.”

This is one of the coolest posts I’ve ever seen.
