I Have a lot of gunk and sharpie markings on a blade for figuring out angle. What is a good product to remove this from the blade?

I sometimes use Ronsonol lighter fluid if the glue is really tuff to get off and the lighter fluid works really fast on everything including sharpie,I then wash the blade with soap and water.
I also sometimes use Pure Brite to get rid of oils from my hands and other thing's if soap is not wanting to get it really clean.

Just use your wife's nail polish remover or buy some acetone at Walmart. Is gone in a flash.
THEN....wash the blade with soap and water...

Goof-Off or Goo-Gone. It cleans everything including contact cement. It is not food safe so wash with diswashing soap and water and then give it a good last cleaning with Vodka, It is a food safe cleaner. I use it alot and I don't have to worry about food safety.
P.S. Not flavored.

For Sharpie ink, acetone is immediately effective. And isopropyl alcohol is almost as fast.

For all the other 'goo' or 'gunk', I usually use Goo-Gone (appropriately). It leaves a petroleum/oily residue, but that's easily cleaned up with something like Windex or just dish soap & water. No worries about food-safety issues then. :)

Alcohol and Goo-Gone...

...breakfast of champions.

(Okay, the second line was a joke. My name is Blues and I'm somewhat of a knifeaholic.)

I use lighter fluid or acetone. Then once dry just finish it off with rubbing alcohol.

It's not food safe but I use Kroil to clean stuff off of blades, it's amazing stuff. If needed wipe it with alcohol when done.

Ethanol works. We used 70% ethanol at work to clean stuff in a bio clean room. Takes Sharpie off better than isopropyl alcohol.
