What you might want to do is take a look at the SureFire E2 and/or E2e. These lights offer 60 lumens of light for 75 minutes. 60 lumens is considerably brighter than a 2D Mag. If the 75 minute runtime is not what you had hoped for, you can use the soon-to-be-released Low Output Lamp Assembly (LOLA) in the E2 or E2e that provides 25 lumens of light for a full two and a half hours of white, blinding light. 25 lumens is still much brighter than a 2D Mag and much whiter too; not to mention the great beam overall beam quality of the E2 and E2e.
Both the E2 and E2e are also considerably smaller and lighter than the standard Scorpion/6P sized lights. While being a bit heavier and bigger, the other SureFire 6V lights do offer 5 more lumens than the E2(e), but for 15 fewer minutes (60 minutes). The SureFire 6P and its derivatives are mainly meant as tactical lights, hence the 6P with the standard lamp assembly has a bright center spot with a generous surrounding corona of light. The Executive lights (E2 & E2e) on the other hand offer more of an utilitarian-style beam with a somewhat less bright center spot, but with a generally more useful larger overall beam. The Executive lights aimed more toward general civilian use.
The E2e is an improvement on the E2 and offers as upgrades: a pyrex lens, a lockout tailcap (although the very newest E2s have this too), increased waterproofness, a hex hezel to prevent rolling, and an improved pocket clip. Both models are offered in Type III hard anodizing (HA) which I would recommend. The HA resists scratches extremely well and is well worth the extra money.
Note: From the 2002 Catalog it appears as though the E2e in Satin Gray (Gunmetal) comes with a lexan lens. If you desire the pyrex lens, you must purchase a Hard Anodized E2e.
