what retains the blade in a PM2?

Is it a detent ball in the release tab? If its not closed with the proper amount of force will the blade bounce back out or not close completely? thanks

It has a detent ball in the locking tab. If you go real slow you can see the lock bar move over and feel it.

Yes, it uses a detent ball. As for blade retention if not properly closed, I say the compression lock is no better or worse in that regard than a Walker style liner lock or Reeve Integral lock. If you don't close it all the way, it will either close itself when you're inserting it into your pocket, or open more.
