What rifle is this ?

In this story of the girl shooting a cougar before it attacked her brother

I like the looks of this rifle

The story quotes it as a .234, of course they have that wrong.

I see a .243 bolt action with weaver rings, an elegant bolt handle

nice stock, simple matter finish and plain black pad

What action is it ?

Best guess is a .243 it could be a weatherby .243, the action is a bolt action. if the gun was rotated 180 degrees we could tell if it is a repeater or single shot by whats in front of the triggerguard.

"Looks like a Tikka action, but why can't it be a .243?"

Count indicated it wasn't a .234 ie typo in article.

I have never really looked at Tikka rifles before. It is nice looking. How are they functionally? The prices look reasonable.

Generally pretty accurate, trigger is ok and around 3lbs, and the bolt slides super smooth. The magazine is plastic, hold three cartridges "in line", and fees reliably. Due to the smaller sized ejection port it's a little trickier too load a single cartridge than say a rem 700 or Winchester model 70.
