At their HP the >SEPTEMBER ISSUE< is still >Under Construction<
I have subscribed (payed) some weeks ago but got no answer til now.

Hey, dude:

1) He's German. How about some courtesy? How's your German?

2) He's German. "Nazi"?

3) "Payed" is an acceptable alternate spelling.

4) Who appointed you spelling God?

Spelling, grammar, and punctuation are important components of written communication. Occasionally the subject comes up, with examples of common mistakes highlighted.

But I agree with Thomas Linton. Besides, singling out an individual minor error seems unfriendly.

I used to work for a man who pronounced "said" as "sayed" and may have used spellings of "payed" and "sayed". He didn't sound ignorant, either. It was just part of his particular, distinctive dialect.

Ignorance and double ignorance! I NEVER check the location of the poster and I wasn't aware that "payed" was now an accepted spelling. I'm guessing its Americentric.

Apologies.

I've checked the site. It says they release material monthly but they don't specify a day. BUT, hopefully this means there will be more content this month. Again, sorry.

Merriam-Webster says payed is acceptible.

And I am consistently impressed that our non-American posters do as well with their English as they do, often exceeding the American posters.

Yeah, its taken me a long time to learn it but I think I've done good. ;)

This reminds me of a very funny story. Michael Curtiz (the great Hungarian director whose English was rather picturesque) was filming "The Charge of the Light Brigade" with Errol Flynn and David Niven et al. There came a moment when they were supposed to film some riderless chargers galloping past. Mr. Curtiz shouted "Bring on the empty horses!" and they all fell about the place. Michael became quite hysterical and shouted at them, "You and your sh*t language, you think I know fu*k nothing, well let me tell you I know FU*K ALL!"
No offence to Bigbore, of course, your English is much better than my German.

thanks gentlemen for your help and understanding.

i learned my english 1968 to 1972 at middleschool here in Augsburg,
later only had contact to the language by reading Guns&Ammo, GUNS, BLADE and so...

and then some years ago i found this forum:
lots of info,
very friendly people,
and i always wonder how you already guess what i`m talking about
with my strange english?

please dont tell me how much errors i made in this post :)

Anyway, thanks you all :)

they rode the attack with their Enfield Bajonetts (Mk1*3 or so)?
If you'd like to know a little more about the Lighthorse, (of which my great grandfather was part), you could start your journey of exploration here.
